The Toronto Maple Leafs might have lost in overtime to the Boston Bruins but it was still a positive night a number of reasons. Mike DiStefano and David Morassutti give their thoughts on Toronto clinching home ice advantage in Round 1 against the Tampa Bay Lightning who had an ugly loss. Mike and Dave give their thoughts on what they liked from Toronto against Boston. In their three stars of the game a couple of defensive pairings received a shoutout while Ilya Samsonov and Sam Lafferty got a deserved nod for their performances. To end the show, Mike and Dave discuss why getting home ice advantage should mean more for the Leafs this season over last year and how they can capitalize on it.

It's a Shame Mitch hasn't gotten a point in 3 games now …. sitting at 95 points and looking like he's going to be screwed out of hitting 100 points AGAIN…🙄
Tampa got shat on tonight by the Isles….Tampa have lately reduced themselves to crazy antics and goon behavior, but it's not working and will only give US more powerplay time in the playoffs. Leafs played a solid game tonight. Kept the Bruins at bay and simply got unlucky in OT.
Samsonov played Excellent….. and on the Road too 🎉
Our 4th line is better than Tampa's. Corey Perry is a minus -27. Pat Maroon is a minus -10. That means it's easy to score on them
Would a leaf defender jump 4 ft into the air to desperately keep a puck in the zone? there is your answer.
The 'process'? we are 4 games out of the playoffs and we lose to a team that just decided that they were going to do what it takes to win and you are talking about a 'process'? You've been eating too many Dubas s*it burgers boys.
So the leafs have a 4th line, cool, now what about the other 3 lines, only 4 games left to figure it out, guys. Let's F'ing go, man.
Another game without injuries..that's the only thing that matters. That said, Keefe needs to get the powerplay clicking and feeling confident because it will once again determine the series against Tampa.
Dang that was a good game . Would love to see this team just win these close games
The Leafs' April game vs the Bruins was a mixed bag because although the Leafs locked up home-ice advantage for @ least their upcoming series against the Bolts, using OT to try to win games in the postseason has during the 21st-century cap era been a gamble (their last playoff OT win having come in game 4 of the 2020 Blue Jackets-Leafs' series).
Unfortunately, moral victories don't count. If you took a poll of leaf fans at the start of third period, everyone of them would have known that somehow the leafs would lose this game.
As a leaf fan im not going to say home ice doesn't matter…. however I will say that it's a little narrow minded to only worried about the FIRST round match-up.
I want the leafs to take this season seriously… yes maybe we won't get home ice against Boston IF they beat the islanders, but we can try for home ice against NYR or NJD or even making sure they get home ice for a potential final. If it is going to be Colorado or Edmonton ibwant to see the leafs get more points then them
Samsonov is better at home. Vasilevskiy worse on the road. That is a benefit.
Tampa only needs to win one on the road if they are unbeatable at home. Still maybe a factor though hard to quantify unless both teams are unbeaten at home.
Last change. Lost me there. Keefe is brutal at line matching. There is no benefit in Keefe having last change.
Crowd. The Leafs fans don't have the greatest reputation. Time will tell.
Tampa having home is would be doomsday because Cooper can line match. If the Leafs had a coach who could do that it would be a huge benefit. IDK, maybe this is the year Keefe figures it out and has his first series that he isn't badly outcoached.
Gio is bald as well, guy looks like one punch man, nothing wrong with not having hair.
If the Toronto Maple Leafs were a gamer… they've given up on the main quest and they will try some side quests
Don't mind that loss at all, great game and shows we can stay with the best and just about beat them, would make for an amazing second round series but we have to win one first. Go Leafs Go!!!
