I did but that may have just been homerism that worked out. Detroit was always overrated though. They have the young guys but everyone thought they would be great because they signed a bunch of old guys in free agency. We all know that does not work.

This wasn’t that hard to call. Now, how far we are behind NJ was a big surprise to me. Vanacek has been a revelation for that team. I think we’re a lot closer to the leap the Devils made than we are to Detroit continued mediocrity

my prediction was a .528 at the end of the season, finishing 1 or 2 spots out of the wildcard. i thought most people i talked to said the same.

Pretty much the same as last year, although just about nobody noticed outside our fan base that we finished ahead of them. Summer of Pierre!

I understand why Detroit fans were optimistic at the beginning of this year, but I never understood why all the neutrals were on-board with the “Detroit is ahead of the sabres in rebuilding” narrative

I thought the finish would be Ottawa >Buffalo>Detroit.
I felt Ottawa had enough going for it in 2021-22 that the addition of DeBrincat and Giroux plus the addition by subtraction of Murray would be enough to push them further up. It just didn’t gel for whatever reason. If I were Dorian, I’d be real careful about how to handle Cat moving forward. That QO is a doozy.
Zero faith in the Yzer-plan, which I’ve said time and again, seems to be a rocket ride to the mushy middle. Plus I just hate Detroit and want to see them flounder forever, their fans to turn on Yzerman, and anyone associated with Little Ceasars to be sent to corporate jail for crimes against pizza.
