Connor McDavid breaks Wayne Gretzky record

  1. He is never leaving Edmonton, that is a fact. Him and Draisaitl are the best goal scorers in the league.

  2. He is the Power and Speed version of Gretzky! If you put Jagr and Lemiuex together, ( Jagrmieux) , you still wouldn't have a Mcdavid!

  3. McDavid is the BEST player that ever played. I understand others have accumulated more goals or assists but in an era where e eryobe is bigger, faster, stronger…better, Connor still dominates! Can you imagine how many boalshe would score against the "stand-up" goalies of yesteryear, their diminutive stature and small equipment. I have never seen anyone do what Connor does AND he can do it all at an unprecidented pace. There really is no comparison.

  4. This is a made up record. Gretzky could not have had that many, because almost whole his season was a game streak.

  5. Its just downright impressive what Mcdavid is doing in todays NHL. i hope the Oilers can win some cups with him because he def deserves it. I would love to see him in the Olympics or World cup and win a championship with Sid like Wayne and Mario back in the day.

  6. You can't have 5 x 10 game streaks in a season when your streaks are 51 games, 39 games, 30 games, 28 games, 25 games, 24 games, 23 games, etc… That's just not how numbers work. One 51 game streak is WAYYYY more impressive than a bunch of 10 game streaks. As for your question, McDavid IS ALREADY one of the best players in NHL History.

  7. Mcdavid is the greatest player ever hands down. The competition today compared to the previous eras with Gretzky, and Lemieux (or even Esposito) etc is not even comparable to today. People are on average just WAY better defensively in modern hockey. Sure there was "allowed roughing" back in the days etc…but that still doesnt compare to the competition today, Mcdavid is just the best.

  8. I'm so dam proud of the Oilers, and to have some of the best players is such a joy to watch. Proud to be an Oiler fan from day one.

  9. What I find crazy to think about… is that it feels like he is just getting started.
He adopted more of a goal scoring mentality this season and has been absolutely dominating.
I don't think he is done reaching peak performance.
I hope we can pull the cup home this year.
Next season, McDavid will be breaking more records.

  10. 10+ point streaks isn't that great in comparison to the great one. In order for you to start a streak, you need to end a streak. Therefore, Gretzky continuous point streaks lasted longer so when they did end, there wasn't enough games left to start another 10+ streak. This record is reaching to generate buzz.

Let's keep the conversation on the real records.

  11. The pure speed /acceleration McDavid has is one thing that the Great One and the Marvelous One did not have (though they all had way above average Hockey IQ). Bobby Orr had that acceleration and Hockey IQ but as a defenseman would not be expected to get as many points. Also we now have overtime to give more chance to get a goal or assist. I would be interested in Points Per Game for Gretz, Lemieux, Crosby, Ovi, Mr. Hockey, and include defenseman Bobby Orr and Mr. Average (Mr. Average takes some research but this guy at the time was considered the average NHL player in height, weight etc. initials GM)

  12. Connor is better then Gretzky and ovi and will eventually break the all time record of he plays until he’s 37 an gets to a team where it’s not just him and Leon

  13. I was a kid when Gretzky was playing for the Oilers in my hometown and Gretzky was amazing at slap shots. He scored so many of them that this was his brand of hockey and it paid off for him as goalies back then were really not good at stopping 100 mph shots like they can today. But now that McDavid is playing on my same team, we get to watch glory, twice! But McDavid is highly skilled in a different way with speed. Short game and long game, making him in my opinion, the best hockey player I’ve ever seen, and I cannot wait for him to continue lapping up the goals as long as he stays with us. We learned our lesson by trading Gretzky and I hope we fight hard to keep him with us. Leon on the other hand also has a phenomenal record and he’s just as good as McDavid and the proof is in the pudding. Leon is passing more this season so he hasn’t caught up as quick as he normally does but having THREE 100 point player is just unheard of.

  14. considering hockey is one of the only sports that drastically evolves over the years because of equipment and other factors of the game its just a fact that connor mcdavid currently is the best hockey player to have ever lived.

  15. There are endless creative ways to present stats to support how great of a season McDavid is having. It doesn't mean that you have to create a new YouTube channel and post videos about each of those combinations.
Unless your videos are AI generated.

  16. I may be biased as an oilers fan but I think his stats speak for himself as the best player in the game right now. If he stays healthy I'm sure he will go down as #2 all time NHL in points. Will see what happens with goals..
