  1. We need to heckle and mock oel, maybe he will do the team a solid and just retire if fans torment him enough.

  2. I think it was the first game against islanders post Bo trade…… He blocked a pass on his bellyb

  3. It'd be fine if they were the worst pairing in the league. That could happen to any team. It's that they're being paid 13 million dollars to do it. Jim Benning's magnum opus. His whole legacy is defined by that pairing and the post-bubble off-season. He will never work as GM ever again in the NHL.

  4. I would argue that Myers is easier to move, but even that won't be easy. The best case scenario is that OEL goes on LTIR for the rest of his contract.

  5. OEL got super star money and he was never a super star. And Meyers you would figure a good defenseman would learn and get better with age, but he never learned anything since he has been a Canuck. He teases, but has really never been the guy we wanted. They play these guys a lot. Questionable ice time. And OEL had lost a step before we even got him. I was angry and said diminishing returns and he hasn't played yet. One of the worst decisions I can remember.

  6. The Canucks might be able to trade Myers at the draft. With OEL the Canucks are very limited in what they can do with him.
OEL carries a full no-move clause. Your four options are 1. Get OEL to waive his NMC add a few sweeteners and trade him. This could prove difficult as OEL has said in the past that he only wanted to play in Boston or Vancouver. 2. The Canucks buy out OEL and have a 2.5 million cap penalty for like 8 years or something to that effect. 3. The Canucks can do a three-way trade to help ease salary retention, 4. OEL goes on LTIR for the final four years of his contract. Both options 1 and 3 end up screwing the Canucks future by adding high draft assets to get rid of OELs $7.2 million dollar hit in a trade. Conclusion: buying out OEL or putting him on LTIR is really only the Canucks beneficial options. That eight-year cap penalty will sting but losing high draft assets would sting even more! Putting him on LTIR for the rest of his contract would be best.

  7. I don't blame OEL. It's 100% on Benning. That acquisition was possibly the dumbest hockey trade in history. It was Benning trying to save his own job by getting rid of his previous bad contracts. Louis Erikson – did he even produce 36 goals for his $36,000,000 contract? Oh wait, it's almost up, better sign OEL with his worst in league contract. The ownership must believe that they know something about hockey. Not from what I've seen.

They can let Myers play out his contract, perhaps as a third pair with OEL who they will have to buy out whenever that can be done. Perhaps in a year they can get past Benning's albatross around the team's neck, obviously eating into cap space for years. Benning sweet-talked ownership … hey we'll do a fast turn-around, no need for a rebuild. Here we are years later and the team is nowhere near even Seattle, starting from zero 2 years ago. That's all on ownership.

  8. Myers and OEL is not only the worst defensive pairing in the league but also the worst combined defensive contracts of any pairing in the league, with a combined salary 13.5 million dollars. Which great pairing in the league can top this fricking figure?

  9. Tyler myers had one good year in buffalo. He then became Tyre Fyres and it went down hill fast. As a sabres fan, buy him out. Addition by subtraction is real.

  10. Remember the time Tyler Myers dumped the puck in for a line change during 3 on 3 OT?
