  1. Greenway is a solid pickup, no loss in portillo. A bit of an eye opener was Ryan Johnson not being dealt.

  2. Chychrun is injury prone, I’m okay with not overpaying, AZ wanted Savoie or Kulich

  3. Hands up. But holy shit greenway could be unreal on the second with cozens and Quinn when tuch comes back.

  4. Paul Hamilton said the Yotes wanted one or both of Savoie and Kulich. They didnt want our picks they wanted our Young talent

  5. Greenway has an Evander Kane vibe as a questionable guy in the room, missing practices etc…..🙄

  6. They basically subtracted a smaller defensive forward for a larger one. Asplund, while having strong defensive numbers last year, still felt like maybe Fitzgerald at forward, where he’s not as big as you’d like him to be to play a defensive role.

  7. Greenway was well-liked by the Wild but really underachieved for his talent. If the Sabres can bring out his ability, it will be a good trade. But even after the GM got in his butt to pick it up a couple of times he didn't respond. He was not motivated to bring his A-game every day. Also, he hurt his shoulder earlier this season and hasn't been the same since.

  8. I think the more on Chychrun means they probably want one of Savoie/Kulich instead of the 2023 1st to say the least.

  9. As a Wild fan, Greenway's best traits are his puck possession in the O-Zone, absolutely obliterating people, and he is solid defensively. His worst traits are that he does not use his best traits nearly enough, lack of production, and lack of effort/accountability (missing some pre-game meetings, general "I don't give a shit" vibes). If Granato can lower his worst traits (especially effort levels), you might have yourself a menace on the bottom 6.

  10. the difference is, Asplund was absolutely terrible this year defensively. Those same advanced stats that him 19th in Selke last year, his first full year, had him dead last on the team and near the bottom of the NHL this year, his second full season. So you have nearly as much evidence that he's terrible defensively as him being good. And it's not as if they didnt try to use him. He started the year in the lineup, but just couldn't score and again, was terrible defensively. Love him, but there was nothing there.

  11. Wild fan here. You have Greenway pretty much correct except for his toughness. Greenway is not the guy that even gets in someones face much less crushes him with his size. when he puts his mind to it he can be really good. If you can get him to play great. Wild fans felt if they could have gotten a 4th him that would have been good. But a 2nd. we feel like we won the lottery. This year he looks like hes totally lost interst in the game.

  12. Bro, are we just completely throwing out the Eichel deal. the Reinhardt deal, and oh by the way, the Risto deal which was a masterpiece as well. Can he close? get more info before you start talking authoritatively about these things. They wanted either Savoie or Kulich.

  13. Not Sabres fan, but with the Wild their need was more offense punch. I'm a Avs fan, and Greenway was scary to play against and if his line had finishers that would of been the Wilds best line. Players got fit the system but more importantly have opportunity, I think this can be a steal for the Sabres, he can be an versatile player, pk, 3rd line role or even top 6 role to help create more room for players which he didn't get a chance to play with. With his hands and large frame, he'll be the #1 enemy for goalies and defense that are trying to move him out from in front of the net on the powerplay.

  14. Actually love the pickup. Adams moves make sense in hindsight. To not get Chychrun I was upset about, but I think that was more just my cynical side wanting something now…for the price and timeline of the Sabres we were smart to hold off on that and also Meier. We are still at a stage where we can develop an under appreciated asset like Greenway.

  15. Asplund. I'll now be trading you from my NHL gaming device. I have respected you during your stay, and wish you success when ever you are delt to. Thank you for your service Sir 👏

  16. I to like the potential for a turnaround Greenway has in Buffalo ! Toughness and grit is more in the mind as to willingness to engage in battle which I think is there in this group . As this team matures its mind will grow into the big bodies.Great commentary.

  17. Seemed great on paper. However, I haven't seen any injection of energy from him. For such a big guy, he seems to be not very aggressive. I'm sure he's a little lost right now. feeling his way around, but I'd really like see him be a physical presence in the meantime. It's not like he should be tired with the few minutes he receives.
