Ryan finally gets the boys to his beloved Baton Rouge and this is a conversation you don’t want to miss, as he starts the show with a powerful message to all those who had comments this past week and doubles down on the support for these young women representing his alma mater.

After a record breaking final four weekend and being catalysts for cultural impact in women’s sports, LSU’s champions Angel Reese and Flau’jae Johnson sit with Ryan, Channing and Fred to talk about everything surrounding their historic NCAA run, controversial social remarks and unapologetic influence in the game of basketball and with black women.

The two Tiger teammates share how their tight knit bond has motivated one another, held each other accountable and supported each other through the highs and lows of the past couple months while building a championship mentality every time they stepped on the court. Both women growing up in single mother households, attribute their determination and swag to their mothers who paved the way for them to have the opportunities they do. Angel took Flau, a freshman, under her wing after bumping heads early in their season and led by example to show Flau and her other teammates what it takes to have a heart of a champion.

Angel, named the Most Outstanding Player Of 2023 NCAA Championship, is known for her dominant play on the court just as much for her voice off the court as well. Amassing over 1M social media followers, Angel shares how she has used her position in sports not just to be one of the best to do it but setting out to be most influential as well. She shares with the guys her thought process for some of her comments and double downed on her words being proud of the lane she has created for herself and women who look like her.

Pursuing a passion of music all her life, Flau’jae was always doubted that she could be successful as a rapper and a basketball player but being named SEC freshman of the year after winning the NCAA title has proved the naysayers wrong. Flau’ said her “ahhh moment” was Sunday evening when the confetti was pouring down and she was hugging the championship trophy while her song blared through the speakers of the arena…Flau’ emotionally shared how meaningful it all was to have everything click at once and grateful to her mother for never giving up their plan and paid a special tribute to her father who was killed before she was born.

Channing gets the girls laughing and asks about Coach Mulkey’s fashion style for game days asking if they get to hold her accountable for her outfit choices just as she holds them accountable for their play on the court.

  1. love this , this one is special for the culture, love the fact that we also have platforms that this historic time can be documented, Win Win all the way around. 💪🏿💪🏿

  2. Salute to the Pivot for this interview and shinning light on these 2 young black women. I remember her from Jermaine Dupree Rap game but didn't know she was a basketball player. She is dope and always repping her daddy. As a single dad of a 9 yrs old daughter I hope she talks about me like that. S/O to Angel Reese for her being her and never allowing others to bother her on who she is as a young lady. Go Tigers

  3. On Second Thought; Most people will spend a lifetime and never be able to tune in to the frequency of manifestation. Fortunately, these two young ladies have discovered the means to bring about change, therefore, it made perfect sense to deny negative energy into their pre-game locker room. Foresight is the key to manifestation.

  4. Guys and Ladies this was informative, interesting, enlightening, Fun, and I’m so proud to be a Black grandmother. Your flowers! 💐💐👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽God Bless! Angel-you make me so proud to live in Baltimore, Maryland (baby) young lady.😃😃

  5. I've legitimately never felt PROUD to be subscribed to a podcast until seeing this interview. As a father to 2 daughters who are beautiful, black princesses to be Queens, seeing these kings uplifting our young black queens while others want to tear them down is the most beautiful thing and should be more embraced in our culture. Thank you Pivot, keep holding it down ✊🏾

  6. I think more people needed to hear and see this. It’s important to understand people before passing judgement.

  7. Don't get me wrong Angel is an okay player but ain't nobody coming close to Caitlin on that basketball court rather it's Angel or that other female she mentioned. Caitlin got that vibration we call the eye of the tiger. My first time seeing Caitlin play was about 3 weeks ago at work I didn't know anything about her but she instantly caught my attention now that's a star. I glad Angel did what she did with the hand gestures but she have to realize they have to meet again next year. Being that Caitlin is the star she is I strongly believe she's going to embarrass Angel next year thats what champions do. They hold on to that pain and use it against the ones who caused the embarrassment and pain. She's not going to embarrass her with her hand gestures it's going to be with game

  8. Always bringing race in to it. Stop playing that card.. I'm colored too but damn.

She talked smack and got smacked back.. it is what it is.

Congrats to the team.. I would have hated if this over shadowed my teams accomplishment.

  9. They literally did more for Women’s basketball then every other WNBA player combined in almost 27 years

  10. I think y’all drop the ball just by interviewing only those two. C’mon mayne… LaDaziah & Lexi we’re big throughout the tournament. I’m not forgetting Jasmine and the other girls who balled in title game, but put some respect on the rest of the team

  11. Man please!! Nobody disrespecting black woman we need to stop being so sensitive people have there comments and there entitled to it. We do the same thing on to the next one.

  12. I hope Reese working on her game cause now the spotlight really gonna be on her. Her game needs alot of fine tuning.

  13. I’m so proud of them!!! Please never let these folks convince y’all to be anyone but yourself 🫶🏽
