I gotta be honest. I know Lars is a decent player. I don't think the Avs needed to make this trade. The chemistry they current have was good enough for them to make the playoffs and get almost a full healthy roster going into the playoffs. I give this trade a 3/10 as it stands right now.
Good trade. Perfect world they retain 50% instead and its a 3rd, but what will likely be a late 2nd probably won't yield impact player for 4-5 years if at all and we are in win now mode. With the way injures going this year, any nhl caliber depth is welcome, especially a center who can play also wing and likely has bit more offensive pop left in him than current stats show.
Forget the 2nd rounder. Connor Timmins was the only 2nd round pick since 2011 to play meaningful minutes in the NHL, and he was traded and is now always injured. By the time that 2nd rounder is an everyday NHL player, our window could be closed, but Eller helps get you closer to a cup today.
I think the trade is not great in a vacuum and even worse considering what every other team is doing. When everyone else gets impact players and the Avs don’t then we get worse by comparison.
360 points in almost 1000 games is solid????? Maybe for a d-man…. it's hard for me to take you seriously when you make silly statements like that. Lars Eller is not the answer, the avalanche haven't looked all that good this season and quite frankly the Eller trade was more to pacify the fans. This team is not going back to back.

Worst trade since getting Bednar. I really don't know what they're thinking trading a 2nd round pick for the worst player on a bad team.
