O’Regan (C) called up, Edvinsson assigned to GR
UPDATE: The Detroit #RedWings today recalled center Danny O’Regan from the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins under emergency conditions.
Additionally, the Red Wings assigned defenseman Simon Edvinsson to the Griffins.

Looks like we chose to not burn a year of Ed’s ELC.
I’m excited to have Edvinnson called up next year. He looks to be a solid top 4 guy already. He made mistakes here and there, but that’s minimal for being that young of a dman. Seider was much more NHL ready, but I think we have our two defensive anchors in these two guys. I hope they keep them separated to create more depth.
May the Griffins be with you, Simon.
I appreciate seeing vets who dedicate themselves to being AHL leaders getting rewarded with NHL games. O’Regan plays a necessary role in this game and deserves to get that NHL check in these lost time games.

That was a brutal game. I left after goal 4 and they scored goal 5 on 10 shots before I made it out of the building. We went to a bar in Livonia to watch the rest so we could drink normal price beers.
I would rather burn his ELC, he’s looked like an NHL level defenseman already and it would get us to his next contract sooner. He doesn’t need the extra year of development. But then again there are a lot of big contracts coming up so having an extra year between them could be good for flexibility. Next summer these players all need new contracts:
* Mo
* Raymond
* Ras
* Berggren
Not to mention some other guys like Johansson, Perron, and Kubalik. I can see both arguments for sliding or burning Edvinsson’s ELC, but I’d still say get the next contract sooner.
Mehh. Not suprised, but i really think that we should have played him on every game since his call up, all the way to the game 82.
Man!! I’m going to this game 😭. lol I really wanted to see Simon play, and Mazur would have been a cherry but I guess I understand – let the career AHL guy playing well have his shot.
