The Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Montreal Canadiens 7-1 in Toronto on Saturday. Due to cap compliance reasons the Maple Leafs couldn’t call him an AHL goalie. They ended up signing Jett Alexander to an ATO and putting him as the back-up to Samsonov. With just over a minute remaining in the game, the Maple Leafs put in their emergency back-up goalie Jett Alexander into the game. Chris Wideman was not happing with the Maple Leafs. This is the NHL. Not some children in grade school.
It is not TOR’s responsibility to help MTL not give up more goals. Players get paid on how many points they accrue. It’s not up to the opponent to stop scoring on you. It’s on you to keep them from scoring.
After complaining about TOR putting in their best players, they complain about them putting in a less-talented player in goal for the purposes of letting him live a dream?

Leaf management today are not perfect but they care about players and are a class act in this league and did this with best intent.
