What Is The Potential Of Filip Zadina? Detroit Red Wings Prospect Sent Down To AHL (NHL PRospects)



Filip Zadina is a name that I was always enamoured by, due to his crazy good draft year back in the 2017-2018 QMJHL season with the Halifax Mooseheads. After getting selected by the Detroit Red Wings 6th overall, the Czech sniper had an immediate role with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL. Today though, he was sent down from the Red Wings back down to the AHL, so I wanted to talk about him and his potential / development. What exactly is the potential of Filip Zadina?

    Zadina has played good up here. I just think Yzerman wants him in GR playing big minutes for his development.

    Sent him down to avoid burning a year of entry level deal. I think Stevie Y or I pray he's taking a burning off the dead wood approach this year as it spirals out of control; while letting the younger guys marinate in the AHL.

    Agree, The Wings are more concerned with Zadina learning to play the "right way" than him getting points in the NHL right now, very much like they did with Mantha (and with pretty much all of their prospects for the last 20 years for that matter)

    Now my question is, did Montreal did the right choice? And should he had picked Tkachuk or Zadina over KK? And who is better Zadina or Caufield?

    He played well even when playing with scrubs, but since we’re going nowhere this year Steve doesn’t wanna burn a year on his elc

    Maybe just a bit of late bloomer and just needs time. Zadina has the potential at his peak a 30-40 goal scorer with a lethal shot. Hopefully he ties out well.

    Blashill must go. All the failure is not on him but at some point young players who lose too much just stop listening. Their system simply isn't making them even a little competitive

    He played with Helm and Nielson and was supporting them. He has had 3 points in his past 4 games, and was solid on the Power Play. Glass took 2 seasons, I don’t see why Zadina is considered a bust by some for taking 2 years. I think he will be a 30-35 goal scorer, 70 point player.

    Looks like it is still day to day for Zadina and Yzerman sent him down as a paper move. Zadina is making strides and doing his best. Hell he willed Ehn to scoring a goal.

    It’s early but IF Zadina turns out to be a bust, then it offsets Juolevi and Virtanen early picks. However, Zadina was rated as high as top 3 and was considered a steal at the time. Juolevi was selected earlier than rated.

    As a Die Hard Detroit Lion, Piston, Tiger, Red Wing fan… We will see another Stanley before any other sport. Going to the playoffs for 25 straight years, I believe? They have been bottom for the last few years, no doubt! However, with Stevie added and the history of the Wings, another 2 years we will be competitive! Cup ready soon after. I live near Tampa and seen what he did in the time he was down here and he is wise at GM and a proven winner.

    Remember Habs passed him on the Draft and he wows to fill Habs' net with pucks and he delivered it once? Honestly l prefer him over KK.
