Looking for eight wins in a row versus the Avs | Oilersnation Everyday with Tyler Yaremchuk April 11

The Edmonton Oilers are back in action tonight against the Colorado Avalanche, the team that eliminated them from the playoffs in the Western Conference Finals last season. Heading into the game, the Oilers have been performing at a high level winning seven games in a row, and have points in 13 straight. The Avalanche have been no slouches either winning their last five.

Tyler Yaremchuk will host a Sherwood Ford GIANT Pre Game show edition of Oilersnation Everyday, and be joined by Jay Downton and Liam Horrobin. The three of them will preview tonight’s game by talking about the starting lineups from both teams, starting goaltenders, and Oilers keys to victory. If you have something you would like to contribute to the conversation, you can interact with the guys on the Oilersnation YouTube channel and comment in the live chat and don’t forget to like the video.

Finally, the guys will finish off the show with their game day big bets presented by Betway.

  1. Come on, you don't get into OT every third game for the entire season if you've got the horses to build a two-goal lead. Moreover, the way OT is now structured, it's simply not where the current Flames roster is going to thrive.

  2. How do you do the summary of the outcomes of last season's playoff series against the Avs and not mention that Drai was playing on one leg, and Nurse had what I think was a serious core body injury, which pretty much left no-one on defense who could stop McKinnon from running their show? There were reports this season that Nurse earned a lot of respect in the room just for suiting up for that third round series.

Of course, it was a flaw in the roster construction to have only Nurse with the physical tools to control McKinnon. All things considered, we didn't actually show that badly in the four game sweep. As if Makar needed to defend half a Draisaitl in order to look good.

Compared to last year's playoff series, tonight it's +Ekholm, -Makar, -Landeskog with Drai and Nurse back to full strength, Connor on a whole new plane of existence, and you think you the lead story is the Oilers needing to prove to themselves that they can beat the Avs?

You're nuts. You're completely nuts. Only someone knee deep in gambler's fallacy could possibly view this situation through that lens.

Sure, the Avs can beat any team on any given night, even without some of their traditional stars. But the odds line has the Oilers slightly favoured for an away game in Mile High City. That doesn't happen very darn often, and it's exactly right.
