Well it is quite understandable that Novak was a little rusty to begin with given that you lack tournament practice and need to adapt to court conditions. But then Novak is a clutch player and can lift his game when needed; tiebreaks are his cup of tea.

Novak is a master at what he does. To beat him, you really need to be packing some serious weapons. I really love his grit, determination, and just sheer tenacity. If ever there was a player who defined those qualities, Novak would surely be in contention to be the poster boy.

Had Tomas Machac kept the ball deep he would have won but he kept hitting it too short right to Djokovics sweet spot.

You people can't seriously believe players have not been Paid Off to lose to Novaq as of late last year. They are more than likely being Bribed to lose to him so that he (1) passes Rafael Nadal, the brown man, in majors total and, (2) to top The GOAT's (Steffi) most weeks at number one. A hand full of top ATP players can Surely beat him, but money talks louder than them winning matches. Until all top 30 players' cellphone and all internet use/access points, pay phone (if it can be managed) and bank transactions have been given to the ATP, ITF AND others, his wins recently have likely come at the cost of other players having been Bribed. Tennis gives the advantage to White people, for white people, to white people. Or, western-accustomed people. Had Clay been granted most tournaments as are hard courts every year, Rafael would have 30-plus majors, many finals and many more masters.
Majors always held in the western world also gives the advantage to White people, even though more and more Blacks are also being supported.
Latinos, which racists also see Spaniards as, Asians and Africans therefore also have that disadvantage. REASON AND INTELLECT DEFEATS NUMBERS MANY TIMES.

Djokovic puts considerably more weight, which may be the beginning of a descent. I hope he wins one more GS this year because it would be challenging to win much more with his new weight.

If you compare Djokovic and Alcaraz, even when Djokovic plays longer matches you can see he has done much less damage to his body than Alcaraz in shorter matches. Djokovic knows how to preserve himself, he has a few gears that he uses according to the circumstances, he knows how to ad gas on important points. That comes with years and years of experialence. Alcaraz like a young gun is always on full throttle no mater who he plays with. He will have to change his game soon or else injuries are going to destroy him.
