  1. Just think of the last four or five years and the waste of these three superstars still in their late prime I know they are older, but they are still very good. I just can’t believe Mario hired Hextall to begin with. I put 80% of the blame on Hextall. He’s gotta go

  2. 2 of the 3 first goals against were softies. Goaltending has been an issue for several seasons. Hextall is a career loser with flyers stink all over him.

  3. Man I hope Carter retires. He has no legs – or at least he refuses to use them. Paying him what, 3 million to stand there and watch the guys around him work waiting for the puck to come to him. This team has so many issues, but I can't get past watching Carter do things I can do and I can't even skate – but I can stand there and watch guys work for what he is making.

I should have asked this after the previous game as I thought it was more prevalent over the previous 5 games or so but is it just me or is Dumo playing with a different mindset as of late. He seems to be playing a more mobile, carry the puck, keep the puck on his stick kind of game. Sure he still has his issues, but it really looked like Dumo was a different player trying to dictate play and carry the puck more often that I have seen in what feels like the entire rest of the season combined.

  4. Who interviewed Heckstall for the GM position? Did they not get a feel for how he would handle the Pens roster? Surely, they ran through hypotheticals to gauge his thinking such as how he would handle the expansion draft. "So, who would you protect and why?" How could someone with a hockey GM background be so inept at being a hockey GM?

  5. They just got Goalied. Hawks goalie played out of his mind until Chicago slipped on past.

  6. If Sully says he had the team to win, then it’s all on him. If he is honest and admits that it was a weak team, then it’s both he and Hextall. Sully has to figure out how to get the most from what he has. If he has crap, the it’s Hextall’s fault.

  7. It's fine to blame Hextall/Burke, I'm all for it, but there's a lot of blame to go around and Sullivan deserves a good portion of it too.

  8. Sully and the players need more blame. Hextal did what he did, but our roster was still much better than most of the tanking teams that we lost to this year. That's on the coaching and that's on players. Hextal didn't strap on the skates last night and he didn't sit behind the bench.

  9. Yup, DK pretty much summed it up there. What were Morehouse and Mario thinking in that hire? Oh well, time for change.

  10. On fan appreciation night of all nights… These poor people that were awarded t shirts and jerseys I would have respectively declined based on the performance last night…it used to be a cool thing but I watched from afar and the only thing I liked about it was that little kid getting a Crosby jersey… how do you celebrate that performance

  11. This was the best outcome. Hopefully the Isles don't lose in regulation to give fans and this team more false hope that anything but embarrassment would happen by even making the playoffs. 8 shots on goal for Sid and he can't get one in on Mrazek? This teams inability to finish and get dirty, timely goals, goes all the way back to the playoff series loss to the Islanders when people just focused on Jarry, but the team couldn't buy a goal anyway. 27 blocked shots by Chicago in this one? The numerous odd man breaks from delinquent play and stupidity was appalling. The core and star players were -2's (Crosby, Guentzel), -3's (Letang, Zucker), and -4's (Malkin and Rakell). The Pens rolled all 4 lines and when the top two were on the ice, the puck was in the back of their own net. Wasn't like they got any more ice time than they normally do, so they aren't working extra hard becuase of the unproductive bottom 6, who by the way held their own statically given the outcome, and sure weren't on the ice for all those goals against. Geno got a PP goal. Woohoo!…and he was still on the ice for 4 against. Is that beast mode? Sid has no points in 6 of the last 9 games. Look, we all know that 95% of Hextall's moves were not good and didn't help the team, but looking past the woes of the core and star players who were considered good this season and blaming it on the Carter's and Granlund's of the team is pure, deflecting BS. This was the biggest game of the season and they fell on their collective faces…every one of them. This is team sport, and they are a bad team from management on down.
