  1. For those saying that Duchene's goal wasn't offside…. “The league already verified that it should have been an offside,” Trotz said. “The explanation from the crew here was that we passed it back. We didn’t pass it back. That’s why they didn’t blow the whistle. The league’s already talked to us about it. There’s no fix. It’s just one of those things. Everybody has a bad day.”

  2. i am not sure if this rule was in place when the Duchene goal happened or not. however, their is an obscure loop hole in the NHL rule book that says if the defending team directs the puck into their own zone then offsides is negated. if you watch the puck it deflects off a Nashvile player and into their defensive zone. it was actually well called by the refs if that rule was in place at the time.

  3. the only goal that i think shouldn’t have counted was the duschen a one because if the offsides doesn’t give an extremely direct advantage to the play i don’t think goals should be called off from a slight offside 2 minutes earlier

  4. Lol that Briere goal started what was a 3-0 comeback to win 4-3 in overtime in game one of that series. I’ll take it!

  5. The first culture to tell him in because the other team put it on to the blue line. So therefore it's not outside.

  6. Who cares about the ones where it literally 2-3 inches offside. That wouldn't have made a difference. The blatant ones are the bad ones.

  7. If you dont score on the break into the zone and the goalie makes a save or whatever. If the teams start setting up for d or offense you shouldn't be allowed to challenge unless you tell the refs or linesmen as soon as you catch it. Like the 2nd clip. Should be a fair goal anyways.

  8. The duchene play is the kind of play where you'd like to see him acknowledge it was offside and be honest with the officials. It would have been an opportunity to truly show his class when it mattered most, but instead he'll end up on these videos forever.

  9. How can anyone claim Duchene wasn't offsides? I'm an Avs fan and that was the most obvious offsides I have seen since playing pee wee hockey with kids who didn't know the rules.

  10. Does the skate touch do anything with the offside? I might sound dumb but I´m just trying to find an explanation to that call lmao

  11. In the words of the Lightbringer, Kip Guile: HERE'S THE THING
As a hockey fan, I'm largely nonplussed about offside goals that require replay and a frame-by-frame breakdown to determine that it actually was offside. I don't really see that some advantage was gained because a player was a fraction of an inch ahead of the puck, or the puck being on edge instead of flat, or a player's skate being in the air instead of on the ice. Goals scored when the offside is so close that it requires review? I would vote to allow those goals 100% of the time.
Sure, if they're scored against my team, I'll be happy to see that goal disallowed, in the same way that I'll take a PP when the other team sends the puck over the glass in the defensive zone. And I'll definitely complain if the rules are applied inconsistently in a way that fucks my team. But I don't think it's good for hockey.
I don't think something is gained by taking away a goal that was scored on the rush by a player whose skate was in the air at the exact moment the puck entered the zone. I don't see that as being somehow unfair in the same way a trip or a hook can gain one team an advantage, can create or erase a scoring chance.

Some of these may be so obvious that it's pretty frustrating that they were allowed to stand. In part I think that's because when the officials miss something that obvious, it erodes our ability to trust in their judgment for the rest of the game, and it makes it easier to be frustrated by future missed calls.
But the way some people parse offsides, slowing it down, frame-by-frame, to try to figure out whether or not the goal should stand? Honesty, I don't give a fuck. If it's not obviously offside, allow the goal and let's move on.

  12. Also in 2018 there was a Tyson Barrie goal against the Blues that was a few feet offsides that counted

  13. The first goal was not offside….. The puck hit a defending player prior to it crossing the blue line.

  14. Some of these are the super close/didn’t score directly after coming in offside, but some are a good 10-15 feet offside.
    Wow.

  15. Unfortunately, it’s only gotten worse. The NHL would LOVE to remove the blue lines altogether so that the scores resemble NBA games.
