Chances are if you blink when watching Sherwood Park Bantam Sam Steel in action you are bound to miss something, as the gifted pivot is extremely quick and elusive. The talented centre has good size at 5-foot-10, 155-pounds which he uses to his advantage when fighting off defenders and protecting the puck, a high hockey IQ, very mature on the ice and reads the play incredibly well, exceptional at finding and creating open ice for himself and his teammates, a pro caliber shot with a quick release, always seems to come up with loose pucks, competes tremendously hard and wants to be a difference maker whenever possible, has a good first step and excellent wheels, very good hands, strong at distributing the puck, not overly physically engaging but will throw his body around if an opportunity presents itself, and is also sound defensively as well. He reminds me a little of a young Doug Weight/Steven Stamkos hybrid with his overall skill set. Sam has a high ceiling of potential, and it may just be a matter of time before Superboy turns into the Man of Steel.

People are entitled to their opinions, but in my opinion Steel is a tremendous player. He isn't surrounded by much on his Sherwood Park squad, so take that for what you will. Also, it was my belief D-1 schools couldn't have so called "scouts" as it was a violation of recruiting policy. They may have "bird dogs" in which they are unpaid positions which is hidden by the school, but their recruiting is done by the coaching staff.
hes way better and will turn out way better than Benson
kale clague gonna be better then him
Sam was the best aaa player in Alberta last year, no question in my mind. And I have seen a lot of him playing with top caliber teams
