The Islanders have a habit of doing things the hard way but came through in the end with a key victory in game 82.
Gil, the much improved passing is what impressed me! Uncharacteristic for the Islanders! Still lacking but much improved. It has to make you wonder who’s responsible for that? The coaching? Where’ve they been before? BO? 👍I’ve noticed Fasching is a really good passer, too! What kind of look is this team going to have with Barzal and Romy back? Give me the Canes!!! Nelson has 2-3 more SOLID years I feel!
It wasn't easy and should have never come down to game 82 but isles are finally in. Now they get canes unless fla. gets a win or bettman loser pt. vs. canes thurs. night. Then isles get b's who will have all the pressure in the world on them coming off of their record breaking season. Last team to set a record-''95-'96 wings who set the win mark-lost in west final to av's because they were too soft.
And with pens melt down this is the season age finally caught up to pens and caps. Which opened up that spot for isles. Now the problem is lou will kid himself once again thinking that this roster is good enough to compete and keep it together for another season. And just like nj broke thru this season sabres who are close, wings, and sens are all young and up and coming right behind isles in east. And means lane remains coach.
And funny reading pens fans whine today about their melt down screaming for hextall to be fired when it was gmjr trading away eight years worth of firsts and seconds for a few more kicks at the can that doomed pens. Hextall had no choice but to resign the old guys and just add more old guys to their roster as pens couldn't upgrade in goal or their d with nothing to deal with. Its always a good day when pens lose. Even double pleasure when it knocks pens out of the playoffs at the same time. No more longest n. america pro sports playoff streak for pens even with their delusional fans thinking bubble play in loss counted. hahahaha too funny.
btw isles 243 gf is the fewest gf of all east playoff teams. Only wild 243 and jets 246 both with one game left are in the 2.7 gf range of all playoff teams. Oil lead nhl with 320 gf and a pp clicking at 30%.
Glad the NY Isles made the playoffs this year, but IMHO the following players should not be on this team next season

We did it. Was a bit nailbiting until the 4th goal, even though we dominated. Have to give our thanks to Chicago for beating Penguins. We need Barzal now, even though we managed without him.
