Really excited to see how his d+2 year goes, and to see how he looks at dev camp

They mostly reach the same conclusion. As long as he continues to improve normally and get stronger physically, his floor is second pair and a PP specialist which is very good for a guy drafted 62nd overall.

The first pair potential is there though. If he continues to improve his possession game it’s possible he won’t need to defend often while he is one the ice. That is how you get a game breaker player. I would not put the odds of this happening at more than 20% at the moment though.

  3. A few of them noted his ability (lack of ability… disability?) to pivot. It’s a sad fact. He has a wide stance and a wide turning radius. I think it might be linked to his late physical development because it looks like a center of mass shifting issue.

It can be fixed with time and physical maturity… Maybe. Until then, it’s understated handicap. It works vs NCAA guys, but he’d get eaten alive vs pro guys who can pick up speed with just a few steps in the neutral zone.

So IMHO all projections and hype should be seen through the prism of that conditional progress.
