There have been 7,547 players to play in the NHL and for just the 15th time in NHL history, we have a 1,500 point player in Sidney Crosby! Coming into today’s Detroit Red Wings vs Pittsburgh Penguins game, Crosby was just 3 points shy of hitting 1,500 so with 2 goals and an assist, he officially hit this major milestone becoming the 6th fastest player to do so in NHL history and the 6th in Penguins history. The amazing thing about Crosby is he has never been the same player since those concussions, we got robbed of something truly spectacular.

Some basic math puts him at around 1700 without the concussion games lost. Just behind Lemieux and with a very real chance to end his career second in points all time . He still might hit top 5 . Certainly will be top 10. He's just 90 points away.
And the Penguins might miss the playoffs this year….. Gotta win out and hope Florida drops a game.
As a Canadian player, Sid the cryer has always had the Refs (mostly Canadian) on his side. No doubt they have helped him get some of those points…

As a Bruins fan I prefer we play the Panthers or Isles. Penguins have too much playoff experience to make an easy series

He doesn't really have any goals to shoot for now. Unlike Ovi who is going for the ULTIMATE goal scoring record Crosby has won cups, medals etc and now is on a dying if not struggling aging pens team who will wilt away. McDavid has overshadowed him in the present day limelight as well….
Ovi vs Sid is the best rivalry in NHL history. Even tho im a Caps fan, I love to see Sid hitting those milestones and hopefully I get to enjoy few more years of these legends

I believe that by the end of Crosbys current contract, 2 more years, he'll pass Joe Sakic and be 9th all time.
Now if he plays another season after that he'll pass Mario Lemieux aswell.
