Flames fan here, yes the fall off is dramatic but there is more to it. We had huby on the wrong wing for like 70% of the season, he was a LOT better in the second half and especially when we got him back on the left. PPG pace, the first half is where it was really bad for us.
Huby and Weegs were vital for us in the final stretch of the season (which ultimately failed but it is what it is)

This sucks to see. Wish a lot of Panthers fans would stop hating on the Flames or making fun of Huby just because of a couple troll fans on Twitter (not saying this is you, OP). I didn’t wish for this for him and hope they can do something to turn him around next year.

Zito knew that once Huby got paid he was going to come back to earth and flatline. This trade has come full circle. I still hate Zito for getting Maurice though.

I don’t hate the player. It’s mostly Calgary and nhl media that we’re saying we got fleeced. To be fair I was upset about letting weegar go even after his horrendous TB series. I felt like we lacked depth. Marc staal hurts but montour is has been huge as has forsling

Hope he bounces back, he did so much for this franchise. We really have absolutely no reason to hope he succeeds after the shithole franchise he suffered through here before Zito honestly. I’m sure the move shook him to the core honestly, as he publicly said he didn’t want to move IIRC.

I don’t understand why we have to crap on Huberdeau. He will always be one of the greatest Panthers ever and I have no problem still wearing his jersey. We can realize that the trade for Tkachuk was a great one and still wish Huberdeau well.
