  1. Unheralded stat to say the least
But highly respected amongst goalies and teammates. He’s a consummate pro . Good for him

  2. Holland should sign Kris Russel for league minimum to take that record back

  3. When did they start counting this stuff? Because I’m sure Craig Ludwig might have something to say about this. He had special pads for blocking shots in the 90s. CBC did a segment on it during the 1994 playoffs.

  4. I still remember him trying out for the North York Rangers Jr A team. The coaching staff wanted him. But the gm at the time said he wasn't ranger material. lol, good call, Mr. grad

  5. goalies block shots. this shot blocking is just plain stupid . Red Wings, rebuilding, just lost a valuable player – Rasmussen – blast to the knee. Would have been an easy stop for Husso. Did Rasmussen "need" to prove how tough he is?? Mindless sheep leading mindless sheep.

BTW, I am a goalie and a coach.

  6. I played goalie in rec league. The dude on the opposing team had been drafted by the Islanders, I believe, and taking his shots in goalie equipment hurt. I can't imagine taking even 1 NHL caliber players shots in the shin pads. This is the NHL record your dad wants you to have.

  7. Congrats to the Captain, I'm a Kraken Fan and today was another tough loss in the month of February, but love to see our former Captain making NHL history!
