Ryan Lindgren wins the 2022-2023 Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award

It is that time of year again. The Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award. I knew we would have it in a game against the Sabres. But what I didn’t know is who would win. There were so many guesses. Is it Filip Chytil, the guy who came out of nowhere this season with 20+ goals and nearly 50 points? Is it Jacob Trouba, our leader and captain who turned the Rangers into gods by throwing his helmet? Or is it Igor Shesterkin, who is just Igor Shesterkin? Well, the winner is slightly a surprise. This year’s winner is actually Ryan Lindgren! Now that is not one of the firsts I had in mind, but of course, that’s not saying that it is undeserved. Ryan Lindgren has been great. Sure, he isn’t a dominating defensemen like Fox (ESPECIALLY Fox), Trouba, and now Miller are, but he is a hockey warrior. Whenever he is there, we are great, and whenever he isn’t there, the defense sucks (like, if he wasn’t injured for a month, we could have won the division right now). And with countless injuries that could put an end to a hockey career, Ryan Lindgren fought through ALL OF THEM!!! He has become the heart and soul of this franchise, and he is definitely worthy of winning this award (and also worthy of making the Bruins and Islanders fans cry). Congrats to Ryan Lindgren on winning the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award!
