Lane Pederson picked up a minor penalty for crosschecking after splitting open Patrice Bergeron’s ear on this play. Should it have been more? Tough Call will be reviewing the incident. Have your say!
No tough call whatsoever. This was a brutal headshot, with his stick , instantly drew blood, which possibly could of knocked Lady Bing trophy winner out for the season. BRUTAL call by the refs …… they blew it !
First thought was a deliberate foul play. After watching closely few times, I wouldn't use the word deliberate, perhaps rather something like both instinctive and reckless. It's hard to explain – some players' instincts are more reckless than others' – still they are instincts which perhaps stem from history of what they experienced in hockey, and partly from their deeper character/personality. I don't think an additional suspension would be wrong here though. Also, I believe these instincts can be changed over time and for Pederson it might be something to work on – can help him to avoid both the penalty box and beatdowns going forward.
I guess they probably changed it from a 5 because Pederson's high stick actually pushed Bergeron's stick into his own face. I'd still give him 5 but what do I know?
People be saying it’s because Bergys stick hit himself. It’s because Peterson went for a high crosscheck and pushed his stick into his face. Shoulda been a double minor at the least
I love how the fact that Bergy own stick basically saved him from what could have been a bad injury. But because his stick was there and the intended high cross check was diminished they gave Lane 2 minutes lol. Pederson hit was a high cross check with the head as the principle target. Thank heaven's Trent stood Lane up.
0:17 Watch at 25%. Pederson is clearly tracking the airborn puck when his stick makes contact with Bergeron's arm, which is being raised to brace for contact. It's Bergerons stick that hits his head, not Pedersons 0:29 . You'll see Pederson actually plays the puck, knocking it away from net front.
It's ridiculous that isn't called a 5 minute major – blood, no matter whose stick caused the blood, or no blood at all. Refs no longer use their own common sense or judgment.

If Greer got one game then so should Pederson.
Tough call?

Bergeron's stick was coming up…..Pederson could have reacted to that.
I wish Milan was still on the Bruins!
Intentional crosscheck to the face. 2 game suspension. NEXT!!
Cheap shot should be suspended and fined
Not tough, come up with your stick and it is 100% penalty and an ass kicking to boot.
Double minor at most

Like most punks, he’s a lot better with his stick than his fists. 🙄

High in the face. Glad Marchand gave him a few pops!
I like it, I hate Boston, 😂
Was a mix going for puck and stick recklessness… double minor move on
That should be a major and game misconduct
kid got dropped for it…..
One game same as Greer. But that said, IMO head shots like this and Greer should be 2-3 games.
A penalty sure, but Bergeron’s stick guided Pederson’s upward.
