Farewell Johnathan Toews! Thank you for everything over the last 16 years!
Friendly reminder that this is all about having the best ODDS. We could still have the best odds and LOSE. It’s called CHANCE/LOTTERY for a reason.
Seeing Jonathan Toews get his final lap at the United Center was special to watch. I will always cherish the memories of him with the Blackhawks.
Kudos to Luke Richardson for getting this team competitive on most nights for the roster he was given.
I still don’t understand why the Flyers were playing so passive in the third period. This game meant literally nothing for them. At least we are guaranteed a top five pick.
It was fun chatting on this sub this season. Can’t wait to be back for these threads in October. Just remember, when one door closes, another one opens. And let’s daydream about that open door being Connor Bedard. Goodnight and God Bless.
for people that don’t seem to understand how great Bedard is projecting to be and might be an nba fan. He’s a better, more sure fire prospect than Wemby, who is being touted as the best prospect since Lebron.
Fuck the ducks
Toews is the last of the dynasty to hit the road. The interview of him by Sharp, you could see them both trying not to tear up. I wasn’t as successful. I remember back when this sub was massive, with so many new fans (myself one of them) that Doc Blue used to have to make entire threads to explain some random rule that had fucked us at the time.

How does a player who WASNT EVEN GOOD ENOUGH TO BE TRADED put up 3 points today. Fuck AA
Truly the end of an era. Toews is one of the all time greats and helped this franchise flourish. Always going to be the guy I think of first when I hear the word Captain….
Not even giving Toews or Kane the option to re-sign is asinine. Fuck the Wirtz family
The lunch pail wins we’ve been getting are frustrating as hell, but honestly as a fan who had to suffer through a lot of those dark years in the early 2000s, for us to still potentially finish last after 82 games while night in and night out always being competitive I would consider a win. Even finishing third last at this point is a win, because the Hawks played good hockey and you’re going to ask why that matters when we want to lose – that means we have a good culture in there, not a losing one that still dogs teams like Edmonton, and it means we have a good coach and someone who could really do some magic with this team once all these prospects we’ve been stockpiling start to pan out, and given how great our 2021 & 22 drafts already look, it should be quicker than expected. Thanks for the season with all of you again, let’s hope for some lotto luck next.
Very cool to watch. Yeah, I know the Hawks losing in regulation was ideal, but absolutely no one on that team cares about the draft. The players’ job is to play hard and win. The coaches job is to put the players in the best position to win. Both of those groups did their best, which I’d rather see than watching them just throw the game.
Hopefully we’ll have a bit of luck and land the number 1 or 2 pick anyway! Anyone in that top 4 is going to be an absolute stud, so it’ll still be fine! I think the Hawks could drop to 6 in the absolute worst-case scenario. They have a bunch of picks and they’ll be well stocked with great prospects next year. It’ll be a fun offseason this year!
THANK YOU, JONATHAN TOEWS
we’re so blessed that toews worked his arse off to come back and finish the season for himself and the city dealing w an immune system disorder and long COVID. would’ve been devastating to not see him return at all.
appreciating the flyers staying on the ice and how apropos – flyers were the bookends of the SC1 & his finale.
props to coach Richardson in the rebuild & the team for going all out for him.
congrats to the trainer.
we were all so lucky to bear witness to this era w our families and friends.
Thanks for the great years Toews, and the great GDTs, /r/hawks. See you all next year.
Someone near me in the United Center was cutting onions at the end of game
Gutted he didn’t get that go ahead goal.. On a high note though, I highly appreciate Richardsons transparency. I look forward to what he is going to do with the future.
Hope some of you find time during the offseason to read the teachings of the Buddha about impermanence and not believing in the illusion of being in control. See you in the fall. Let’s go Blackhawks.
Icehogs and Fuel are playoff bound so there’s still hockey left from the prospects.
Ohh, the memories..

Roenick, Amonte and Belfour were the Hawks I grew up with. Toewser, Kaner and Crow were the Hawks I became an adult with. All of them are special players, but only 19 and 88 brought us the Cups and initiated a true dynasty. Chicago will always remember.
Let’s go ducks
Ducks down 4-2 thanks AA for the useless points that will do nothing for this team long term
No 32nd place for us
And the cat’s in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
“When you coming home, dad?” “I don’t know when”
But we’ll get together then
You know we’ll have a good time then
