If the team stays healthy next year, finds a real back up goalie, and one or two more goal scorers, watch out
Well I lived thru the dead Wings era back in the 70's. Use to go to every game at olympia. Heny Bocha, Dale Mccourt, Ned Harkness and the rest. A very disappointing time to be a RW fan. As for now all I can say is the RW's will be one of the teams to beat in the near future. There's no comparison between then and now. Steve Yzerman probably being the difference. If I want to look to the glory days I just turn on Datsuk videos on You Tubes. Soon I won't need to do that anymore
The only criticism I can have of our GM is precisely his choice not to also include the choice to buy a really good player, when players were available. Draft picks are good to have, but it takes many years before the team can reap any fruit from them if they even become something of a choice in the end.
There is a contradiction when it is also mentioned "state" to "play meaningful games" when this year's draft is as deep as it is after all. Not even thinking about using all available assets thus becomes my only criticism of our GM. Now we have worse opportunities and are in a sickly dependent position on how other teams end up to increase our chances, that's a f*** up in my book. What did it serve as a "point" and how did this way of "thinking" benefit our other talents who never got the opportunity to even try 9 games in the NHL without burning a year on their ECL contract. I call that bad asset management any day of the week…
Yzerman gets as long as he needs
Yzerplan! Not even trippin. Take as long as he needs.
Stevie isn't just rebuilding the Wings. He's building a dynasty, and is trying to get the exact kind of players he wants on this team to make that happen. From 1990-91 until 3015-16, the Wings were a playoff team who brought four Stanley Cups home. So, in my view, I say give the man as long as he needs to make this dream come to fruition.
I couldn't be more disappointed with the Yzerplan. Yzerluck is our only hope and it quite obviously doesn't exist. People are lying to themselves and to you because Yzerman can't be held accountable.
They have built through the draft. He signed the pieces in free agency to help build the culture. They lost some close games and then fell apart at the end. Time for the build to continue with the youth next season.
Rebuild? Seventh season in a row as bottom 8 in the league. Fourth season under yzerman and bottom 8 all four years. Finished 8th worst this season and last. I still believe in yzerman but this has been a joke thus far. Idc how young this team is and idc that they sold at the deadline. You have to finish better than that in year four.
Were 6 points better then last year..are we really moving in the right direction under yzerman
