Shane O’Brien absolutely TEARS into Bo Horvat for his comments about VAN fanbase.

Spicy take from the Roxy King. Thoughts??

He is 100% right! Personally, I never thought Horvat was a good captain !

Gotta love Shane O’Beauty. Also shout out to the person who captioned this vid. Must have been a hell of a job to keep up with OB

  3. ManyArmedGod

I do agree in general with what OB is saying. Maybe not word for word, but the overall sentiment is accurate.

It’s a straight up bad idea to say something like that first thing out the gates when you’re playing for Lou Lamoriello. Not that he’d be offended by the comment, but if you think Lou doesn’t notice when his players make waves…

  5. Shane just went from a C+ ex player to a A- ex player in my eyes. Not the first time I’ve heard him spout praise for the city.

S.O.B should never have to pay for a drink in Vancouver! The guy is an absolute beaut

  7. Forgotmymind

I upset a few people on that TikTok 🫠

Shane is a beauty, always welcome in Vancouver! He worked his ass off here and was a fan favourite.

Announce the 2023-24 schedule already so I can buy tickets to see JT Miller absolutely pummel Horvat as he gets Booed out of the building.

  10. I loved him here. He stood up for his teammates and now he is sticking up for us fans made me love him even more.

When Bo returns to Vancouver next time, the reception is going to be an interesting one.

Also, look at 4:11, “**Biasca**” lol. Did Don Cherry write the captions? 😂

I remember SOB taking the worst penalties and then heading to the box looking confused as to why he’s being penalized, it always made me laugh. Loved that old team just before we hit the 2011 run!

I mean yeah. Look I understand Vancouver fans can be quite harsh but this is a fan base that stood by Bo Horvat for the most part when controversy was swirling around the team and for him to take shots at the fans was disrespectful and showed his true colors. Secondly, this is for everyone out there. If you are going to make a statement like Bo Horvat made don’t go crawling to the media the next day and say you didn’t mean it. Either stand by what you said or don’t say it in the first place.

Bit of a Homer take but I agree completely with O’Brien here. Like I know there’s people that say the Vancouver fanbase is boring and disengaged, but we haven’t had a legitimate playoff team in a decade. Obviously fans aren’t gonna be filling seats when you’re a bottom feeder for a decade.

Really interesting to get a former players opinion on the matter, as a fan I admittedly thought we were being a little reactionary but I’m glad that a former player respects the Vancouver fanbase that much. Like he said, when the Canucks are good this city eats sleeps and breathes hockey. Dumb comment by the former captain

EDIT: I gotta listen to missin curfew more

EDIT 2: didn’t realize the other host was Scottie Upshall. Don’t know why but I got more respect for those lockout era players. Was a different game back then, love hearing those retired players takes on the modern game. Definitely gonna check out more of the pod, it’s like chiclets without the same exposure so they’re more candid

Sorry but i gotta roll my eyes at this…
“Bo you were never any fuckin good there”, “Bo what did you ever do for the Canucks” doesn’t sound entirely accurate. SOB has never carried the weight of a team on his shoulders as a Capt. Its a team game.

Yeah Bo shouldnt have said that sh** its true, and Canucks fans are passionate, but I dont need Shane O’Brien of all people to state the obvious and be so over the top. If Bo didnt do anything for the club in his time here, then SOB certainly didnt do f*** all either.

So over blown. Its not a big deal. Good on Bo saying what he did

I agree with Shane. Especially the part of the jersey throwing thing. It’s a Canadian city: jerseys are going to be thrown to send a message when you’re bad. If the pro players are letting that part get in their heads, I don’t know what to say. It’s always been a part of sports fandom for fans to express how they are feeling and send that visual message.

Also the fact that he mentioned that the Canucks *is* our only major sports team—we’re not Toronto with two other teams we can lean towards when one is playing bad. The Canucks is all we got for the most part, so the passion is extremely high for good measure.

One thing that people don’t seem to mention a ton that ticked me off is when Bo said at one point during a losing streak one season, that it (paraphasing), “feels like we’re never going to win again.” Some of you might remember this comment. First of all, what a ‘L’ fucking comment to make as a captain. It doesn’t sit right with me at all. Why even say something like this to the media when shit isn’t going right? Even if you feel this way, you don’t say it out loud—that’s not what a person in charge of creating a winning culture is supposed to say.

And then Bo after he’s traded has the audacity to come out and throw the city of Van and the fans under the bus with the emphasis of “telling everyone for free” that’s how he feels.

  18. Rahtgooves

I’m sure all the milfs at the Roxy were buying you drinks shaner

  19. Man, I love seeing the passion. Mad props for Shane.

  20. generics_canucks_fan

I feel bad for owning a couple horvat jerseys. Heart wrenching to hear his statements. I was ecstatic when he was named captain and sad to see him go. Ripping on fans was a bitch move. I hope fans boo the shit outta him when he’s back in town.

  21. NotoriousBananaHavoc

Yeah Bo comments was towards the fans its worse then what Messier did because he never went public to diss the fan so fuck them both

  22. PCMasterCucks

SOB is partial to the Islanders because of E from Entourage lmao

  23. That one line of “you got nothing done but get three coaches fired” sums up Horvat.

Ryan Miller was more of a captain for his brief stay than Horvats era of country club soft serve, good riddance.

I’ll tell you that for free.

  24. Ob and Bieksa were my favourite d partnership during that era. Hit the whole thing on the nail.
