  1. There's no way a person can like both McDavid and Draisaitl. There's definitely no way anyone can like McDavid and Draisaitl AND Karlsson all at once. You have to pick one. It's the rules of hockey. I don't make them up, I just enforce them.

  2. Not being from a natural hockey country, award voting is something completely baffling to me, when Josi could rank higher for the Hart than Makar and be a Lyndsey finalist but then lose the Norris to him

  3. Ullmark a shoe in for the Hextall award as best offensive goalie and a tip to Pastrnak for getting 60 goals in the cap era and having no almost no chance at winning any award

  4. Karlsson is having a Wally Berger type season.

Berger in 1935 with the Boston Braves: 34 HR's and 130 RBI (led the NL in both stats) while batting .295

Babe Ruth was 2nd in HR's w/ those Braves…with 6 in just 28 games for a 38-115 team. To be putting up the numbers EK's done on a 22-win club and 23 points ahead of their 2nd best scorer as a D-man is incredible.

  5. Karlsson is so good, he has a 33 point lead over Couture whos second in scoring for SJ. The team is in shambles.
Bobby Orr and the other defensemen with 100 point seasons were on great teams with other players that had 100 points also. Karlsson playing on this terrible sharks team makes this feat much more impressive. His personal +/- is 30+ better than SJ without him. He is so good offensively that he makes his defense seem bad in comparison. Sure there are better defensive defensemen. But he sure as hell deserves the Norris for this season. What an amazing feat. With or without the redemption arc.

  6. Connor McDavid has played 104:33 TOI on the @EdmontonOilers Penalty-Kill this season…

    Goals For: 8
    Goals Against: 9

Edm leads the NHL with 17 SHG
    As per Bob Stauffer

  7. This is the greatest season by a NHL defender ever, i will drop some numbers here to prove that.

Before EK65, five defenders have hit 100p in NHL.

Orr did it 6 times, Coffey did it 5 times, Potvin, MacInnis and Leetch did it one time each. A total of 14 times.

Potvin had 101p, but he still was only 3rd in points with Islander, number 1 was Trottier with 134p.

MacInnis had 103p, he was 2nd in Flames behind Fleury who had 104p.

Leetch had 102p, he was 2nd in Rangers behind Messier who had 107p.

Coffey had 126p(2nd in team), 121p(3rd) and 138p(2nd) with Oliers, Gretzky had 205p, 208p, 215p same seasons.

And he had 113p(3rd) and 103p(2nd) with Penguins. Lemieux had 199p and 123p.

    Orr was runner up 4 times in Bruins with 139p, 117p, 101p, 122p, behind Esposito who had 152p, 133p, 130p and 145p.

But he won the team scoring 2 times with 120p and 135p. Esposito was runner up with 99p and 127p.

My point is that all of them played in super stacked teams with loads of HoF players in their prime.

7 times the team had 3 or 4 100p players!

All of them won Stanley Cup at some point with the team they hit 100p with (Coffey with both Oliers and Penguins).

Orr's 1969-1970 season is the only time a defender won team scoring with no teammate over 100p (Esposito close on 99p).

EK65 closest teammate have 67p. Sharks is nowhere close to a Stanley cup, they are a botton four team with fewest wins in league.

Everybody talks about McDavid, and the season he have(in his prime).

EK65 matches his number this season in 5vs5 points, as a 32 year old defender in a crappy team (Coffey was the oldest 100p defender before at 28 year).

I can drop more numbers but this is getting a bit long.

Gratz EK65 for the very best season ever!

  8. Sharks are 6th on PK with EK65 only playing 30 minutes. We didn't need him on the PK this year, so why not save him and use him in situations where he can excel? No reason to waste your best player on the PK when you don't actually need him there.

  9. Remember, McDavid didn't deserve the Calder because he was dragged down by a defenseman and broke his collarbone. Nevermind the fact that he showed brilliance as a rookie.

  10. Conners season is better just because his team is doing way better and his teammates are having career years

  11. When scoring is so high in the NHL and so many players are at least a ppg, it definitely feels less special.

  12. McDavid has been at the top even when he had subpar teammates. He's the most dominant player since he's touched the ice. As a rookie with 2nd line minutes he was matched up against every team's best defenders… That speaks for itself.

  13. At the beginning of the year I was playing NHL 21 Oilers franchise mode and was on pace for McDavid with 60 goals and 140 points and I stopped playing because it seemed unrealistic to me. Meanwhile this if the first Oilers season I've been able to watch or at least listen to everyone of my beloved Oilers games, and it's also the season McDavid hits 60 goals and 150 points. Coincidence? Maybe, but from what I've seen this year McDavid is all-knowing so he probably knew I was watching (or at least listening) to every moment and wanted to prove to me wrong.

  14. I wonder when Sharks trade Karlsson away, are they going to make the playoffs? I think so. Karlssons numbers are inflated because he doesn't give a crap about the team and winning the game.

  15. Anyone think the most under appreciated guy in the league is Leon Draisaitl? His production seems to be associated solely because “he plays with Connor on the Power Play and takes some shifts with him.” Seems like many of the other top scorers all have a teammate also near the top of the points leaderboard. Leon also encouraged Connor to focus on becoming more of a goal scorer first. McDavid took that challenge head on. And also led in Assists as well!

  16. Again I’d be a bit surprised if he wins the Norris as he’s now a 23 with one game left. No defensemen has have won the Norris with + over -20, at least not since 2009.

  17. Karlsson does not deserve the Norris. Just because he has a ton of points, doesn't mean he was the best defenseman.

  18. I think the Oilers will come back for Karlsson with a trade next season. It would be mouthwatering to see Conor and Erik on the same team

  19. Having great seasons dont mean shit when your team sucks, and the Oilers aren't winning the cup either. McDavid will never win a cup.

  20. Happy for the 8 100+ point players this year!
60 goals pasta one of best teams
3 names who stand out imo
1.Pettersson on a bad Canucks team while other players at top end league have alot you'll see same teams Tampa, rangers,Colorado ect
    2. Karlsson in same boat a bad team still able put up points and doing better since burns left
    3. Nugent Hopkins ofc cause Edmonton has McDavid/Draisaitl/Kane/Hyman contribute but has been solid player for them since being drafted nice to see.

  21. The thing about Karlsson is that he is doing this on a bad team. Watching him on the PP is a dream. Just imagine if injuries didn't slow this guy down. Sure, he isn't great defensively. But who else sniffing the Norris this year?

  22. The fact people try to take away McDavid’s accomplishments by saying he has 70 power play points is stupid. It’s crazy people think getting power play points is bad because they want to push a stupid narrative

  23. I am looking forward to THGs opinion in 2030 about this season. All of a sudden points are raining. McDavid is over 150 and 32 year old Karlsson has over 100 points.

  24. It’s the best player in the league putting up historic numbers. If Makar was healthier I would’ve expected him to win the Norris

  25. People who hate the Oilers, Canadian teams or Mcdavid will say anything and everything to downplay his accomplishments lol. Its the same way with all great players. Gretzky wasn't that good because of the era and nobody was allowed to hit him. Brady only won so many SB's because of Belicheck and having superb teams every year. Jordan was only so good because the skill level in Basketball was so low back then. People just need something to hate on constantly and the greats are easy targets.

  26. Somehow McDavid leading his team to the best PP in NHL history is a negative to some of these smooth brains 😂 why don't the players on your team simply do the same?

Oh and he's also the top even strength scorer in the league too
