[Androckitis] Now that the news is official and Ron Hextall is out as Penguins GM: I can report a source told me not to rule out the possibility of Hextall returning to the Flyers restructured front office. Something to keep an eye on during the off-season.

    No fucking thank you.

Guy does a bad job here, goes to a rival and does a *worse* job, and you expect me to believe the front office misses him? Give me a break.

I didn’t know April fools was a month long event, this is obviously a joke right? Right?!?!?

Who is this guy and who on earth would think this is good idea

  4. What? LOL

Chicken wings are back off the menu, boys!

Every couple of weeks I say, “this is peak Flyera. It has to be, right!?”

But then a few more weeks go by….

This sadly sounds like something that the flyers would do. Sign him as some kind of advisor and expect everyone to be OK with it.

If they bring him back then there is no need to tune in next season.

This teams obsession with constantly keeping guys who are legends as players around the franchise in front office positions is what has made this thing go south. We need someone from the outside looking in who has no ties to anyone in this org to come in and do it their way.

He’s one of the fucking reasons where in this cycle of mediocrity. Why the fuck would they offer him a job?

Tired: Pens fire Hextall, Flyers hire him

Wired: Pens fired Burke, Flyers hire him

  11. Weren’t there reports of him creating a fear based toxic environment? His player evaluation structures obviously didn’t work out. Whats the value or benefit?

  12. LarryFineMD

Keep him away from the draft and the scouts.

Flyers are like a poorly run family business.

I wouldn’t say no in all situations I bet he’s great at answering the phones, creating scheduling calendars, ordering food, etc.

I am not saying they should to be clear, I personally wouldn’t. But IF this is something they are considering, I think there’s one big reason for it. During his tenure, especially at the end, there was a lot of reporting that Hextall tried to shut out the old boys club which hastened his firing. And in general I think he’s seen as an “outsider” to those forces.

I still like to think Ronnie went there JUST to sabotage them.

I know its more likely he just sucks at it, but still!

Any shred of hope I had with the hiring of Briere and the cutting off of Bobby, Billy and Homer will be flushed down the toilet if they bring back Hextall.

  18. If we add Hextall to the Briere-Tortorella brain trust, and the Pens hire Tulsky it’s going to be even more difficult to punish myself following this god forsaken team.

I thought we already hit rock bottom.

is there any chance we ever bring in someone to oversee hockey but not be an ex-flyer?

I love my alumni but leave the past in the past.

This is the longest streak in the city without a title, and that was almost 50 years ago
