  1. Let's keep the train rolling boys. Hopefully the Bruins will put on a good show for Thornton, do you think he'll grab a drink with Bergy, Marchy and Krejci?

  2. People are forgetting foligno who was the captain for the jackets when they swept the lightning is on the bruins so I think him along with Bergeron and krejci are not gonna let that happen since they’ve experienced that back in 2010 against the flyers

  3. As a Flames fan, I’ll be salty if Tkachuk carries the Panthers to the Stanley cup. I thought Huberdeau would provide comfort for the loss of Tkachuk, but it only reinforces how much I miss Gaudreau/Tkachuk.
Everything about this matchup screams major upset as Boston has more room to fall apart after a historic regular season.

  4. I've been watching the B's since 1963 as a boy in Boston and this team obviously is a beast, but, hockey's a funny game, the puck bounces, deflections, momentum, hot goalies, I think they should move on, we'll see! Good luck to the spoked B

  5. If you actually watched the games against the panthers, Boston played them like they didn't respect them. Bostons losses were mostly to bad teams this year for some reason, like they wouldn't put in full effort, and it looked like they did that against Florida. That being said, Boston struggles against bad or mediocre goaltenders for some reason, and there's more luck involved in hockey than any other sport. All it really takes to win a series is a hot goalie and a few lucky bounces. I really hope Boston wins, but I've been hurt by them so many times that I have zero confidence that they will. This seems like the exact kind of match-up that they choke in.

  6. Florida seems to be able to score a lot more goals than Boston's average opponent this season. They still probably don't have much chance, but I guess you never know.

  7. I'm wondering if Boston keeps up the goalie rotation in the playoffs. Normally I'd say it's absurd to not ride with your Vezina winning goalie for every single game but it's not like Swayman hasn't been equally as great as Ullmark and the rotation throughout the year seems to be what kept them both in peak form down the stretch

  8. I'm not finished through watching yet, but interestingly both of Florida's wins this season against Boston has been against Swayman. They have not won with Ullmark in net yet this season

  9. Would looooooove to see Florida take this. They have the offensive talent; I just don't think their defense is strong enough to hold Boston.

  10. You can look at the season series and say Florida won 2 games. But you can also say that Boston beat them twice by 3+ goals and Florida needed OT to beat them for one of their wins. All these games also took place before the Bruins acquired Orlov, Hathaway and Bertuzzi. Boston should take this in 5 or 6.

  11. Hockey fans have such a short memory. The Bruins have been known for their ability to bust out for years, also, President's Trophy usually doesn't predict good playoff performance. I wouldn't be surprised if Bruins flop on round one. And even if not, they are not winning a cup this year. Mark my words.

  12. Bruins had 22 one goal victories this season plus 17 empty net goals. Basically 50% of their games were 1 goal leads near the end of a game. Cud say a good playoff stat or their puck luck cud end.

  13. Funny how as soon as playoffs start nothing we did matters but our games in the regular season against Florida matter . Double standards lmao

  14. As tough as Florida has played Boston this year, I just can't see them upsetting the Bruins (as much as I'd love to see it as a Leafs fan). Although they have similar offensive numbers, Boston gave up just over one less goal per game than Florida. To add fuel to the fire, I think the Bruins got even better and deeper at the trade deadline – which is bad news for the Panthers.

There's a distinct possibility of a sweep, but I think Florida will win one game – Boston in FIVE games.

  15. That's a stretch to say 95-96 was an upset. Their records were nearly identical and the bruins were underachieving to the point Casper threatened to bench cam neely. Also Florida had home ice.

  16. Ver-hah-hah and Cha-chuk will go super saiyan on the Broons and make this a short series. 4-0 Panthers.

  17. It's going to be a tough series, but I think the Leafs' series is the battle of titans. But the Boston core has so much experience and talent, as long as Boston keeps it all going, goaltending to offense, they can win this. But the Panthers are gonna be a good fight.

  18. No better way to send Bergy and Krejci into retirement while drinking from Lord Stanley's Cup. 🙏✌️😎

  19. Somehow I've got a feeling that if Florida wants to win this. That they must storm out of the gate and win it in 4 or 5 games.

  20. With this record season from the B's, all the pressure is on them and that could work to Florida's advantage big time. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Florida wins this series.

  21. It's weird but my gut for some reason likes the panthers in this series. Boston should be a no brainer but I cant explain why I dont trust them

  22. The panthers are 500 against a very different bruins team then they are now. Addition of Another first pairing d man a legit top 6 forward and hathaway who’s built for playoffs.

  23. Considering my Flames won't be making a post season appearance, I'll be cheering for the Bruins the whole way. Go Bruins!

Though, I won't be upset if the Panthers win as I still love Tkachuk

  24. I think it's crazy that people have the Bruins sweeping or dominating this series. Florida has shown up against the Bruins this season, more than any other team in the league and as a Bruins fan this was the first round matchup I did not want to see.

That said, they are very different teams than the last time they saw each other so that definitely factors in. I think the depth of the Bruins is really going to shine here however, especially at home in Boston. I would not be surprised if Florida takes two games though and I think it could be the Bruins toughest matchup on their way to the cup.

  25. Special teams matchup more lopsided than the full-season stats indicate. BOS PK was the best by far – almost 3% better than the 2nd best team in the NHL – but that was against 32 teams. They will face the #10 PP against FLA, so a bit above average and so BOS PK in the series can be expected to be a little bit lower in this series. But on the other hand, BOS had the #12 PP against the league…but here they face the 23rd PK with FLA, so expect the BOS PP to be significantly better than the reg season in Round 1. FLA will need to play very clean to make this series a long one. Especially in the first periods of games because when BOS gets rolling they are tough to keep up with and if FLA falls behind and has to play wide open they will be too vulnerable to counter-attacks. BOS, on the flip-side, will need to reduce the PP sloppiness because they do have a tendency to get too cute and give up shorties. Should be a good series. BOS 4-2.
