THIS is what you want out of a captain. He doesn’t have to lead the team in points or flash.
This is so cool to see. I was a Nico doubter at times, not like, “is he a bust” but just, “can he Captain a team?” His scowl and his general passivity on the ice just seemed like, the kind of person I’d like to work for, but maybe doesn’t work in pro sports? But yeah Nico is the man. Everybody loves the guy and we can see especially in the last third of this season, that scowl is just intensity. He may not complain much or get emotional as often as some but he seems to have an intense drive to win, to go with that good-natured maturity. His work ethic continues unabated and I think the moment Bergeron retires, at least one Selke is in the cards.
