  1. As for the Sabres not hitting, don't care. It's 2023. Goon hockey is dead. I know Canadians don't like that, but I prefer what we have now in the league. I don't need to see Bruce Shoebottom. UFC, boxing, exists.

These days, if you try to line up a guy for a big hit and miss it's an odd man rush the other way. You can dismiss that statement, but it happened a lot for the Sabres this season. Even in the last game, Stillman tried to hit someone on a rush and blew it. He even got penalized for it.

Everyone loves big hits, but I'm not sure they matter anymore. Best defenseman I ever saw play was a guy named Niklas Lidstrom. You know, the guy that used to just lay people out with hits on a regular basis. Big bruising, hulk of a defenseman. Yep.

  2. 1 more win and we would be in the playoffs. Heartbreaking but Sabres have a good future. Would of been a tough first round as well. But hey we were one of the teams that beat the bruins in there own barn this year.

  3. Lots of thanks to The Hockey Guy for reviewing every game. It must take a ton of time. As far as I know, there's no other youtube series that goes over every MLB, NFL or NBA game in an organized format.

  4. For every fan that says "oh it's just october (or Nov) they'll be fine" in relation to early season losses….THIS MOMENT is for them. The Avalanche wouldn't have even been in this position if they won just one more against an AZ or a VAN or a WPG early on. Just 2pts then would have been breathing room now. Happy they won the Central though (suck it DAL and MIN), on to the REAL season! Defend the CUP #GoAvsGo

  5. Ya-almost 500 lost man games this yr. Not only 3rd most in the nhl this yr,but the most injured deffending champ since they started keeping track of lost man games. And this wasnt a bunch of 4th liners-almost all our best players missed double digit game-some far more-except Rantanen,& Toewes. Dallas by contrast, lost a whole 80 some games to injuries,& had 14 pt lead at 1 time. Makar,Helm,& Manson-who all were obviously out last night-missed more games than the whole Dallas roster combined. And they were obviously just the tip of the tip of the ice berg.

Doesnt really matter now who won the division-everybody has an even chance that got in. But for the reg season-Dallas really ought to be ashamed. Even Minnesota had somewhat signifigant injury issues to Kaprizov,& their blue line. Not remotely like the Avs injuries, but Minny did have to overcome a signifigant amount of adversity also. Dallas got totally charmed injury luck, from the hockey gods(kinda like the 2020 bubble, when we lost 6 regulars,& 2 goalies-had to start Michael Hutchinson games 5-7,but it still took OT of game 7 for them to advance),& really shouldve long ago burried them both,as far as the division goes.

Whatever happens these playoffs-this reg season has been a testament to resiliency through beyond ridiculous injuries,& championship experience,& mettle. 109 pts with what they had to deal with is amazing overachievement. And since they won a Cup last yr-theres really not much pressure on the Avs in these playoffs-especially by deffending champ standards. Not many will pick them to repeat, especially without Landy. Hell,im not even picking them to repeat,& I work at Ball arena-lol. I have them losing to Edmonton in WCF rematch-which would still be a great run-all things considered. Avs & TB are only teams with nothing to prove win or lose. Every other team has something to prove to varrying degrees. Even Boston for all their success, hasnt won it all in over a decade, with a much different roster.

I do think theres a lil pressure in the 1st round. Seattle is relatively young,& playoff inexperienced, has shaky goaltending,& is way ahead of schedule-they are playing with a different kind of house money. But after that, assuming we advance-theres not much pressure at all on Colorado. Even had we played Minnesota in 1st round-they are the team that hasnt won a round in a long time. But let Dallas,& Minny beat each other up,& we probably will see the winner round 2. And I think Minny will beat the charmed ass Stars-though I hate Minny even more-lol.

  6. As a lifelong Nords/Avs Fan, being at the game and wearing the Nords Reverse Retro, had a few Quebec Fans approach and appreciate. Cool experience. Mac just willing the Avs to the Central Crown💪🏻💪🏻

  7. Shannon wearing the Eagles trying to jinx them. If Abbotsford wins and Colorado loses tonight, I think that puts Abbotsford in 3rd. I know what you're doing… 😛

I'm glad you've seen two wins so far in the games you got to go to. I'm hoping Colorado plays Calgary and Abbotsford if possible so we get the Canadian Anthem in the playoffs this year. The Eagles went hard and got kids choirs to sing the Canadian Anthem at games earlier this year and it was excellent.

Have fun tonight. I'll be at the Eagles/Gulls game.

  8. Colorado also just sat Cale Makar and Josh Manson for the last few games of the season and had that kind of 1st period against Nashville. Both guys expected for game 1 of playoffs and have been healthy a bit, Avs just didn't want to risk another sacrifice to the injury gods.

Josh Manson is too annoying to play against to not have (no easy zone entries or net fronts near that guy) and Cale is Cale Makar, two guys that also didn't play against EDM but would have in the playoffs. So the Western Conference teams don't have to feel great about Mack already being in playoff mode too.

  9. Nashville had an easy-to-overlook season considering how many important players were lost for long stretches.

Right down to the final games before just missing the Playoffs. Saros was a huge part of that, but w/o a good team in front of him he’s no better off than Gibson or Vejmelka.

And they have so many picks in the upcoming drafts it’s astonishing. They have always impressed me as a well-run, competes-hard franchise.

  10. Obviously Avs had one of the tougher win-the-Stanley-cup-next-season hangovers. Lost key players. Tons of injuries including a beloved captain out for the season. But they found a way. Makar and Manson are back game one vs Kraken so we won’t see much of Brad Hunt or Jack Johnson (Hunt will play for Eagles in Calder Cup chase). But think it’s kinda cool to play Kraken in their first ever play off series. Shame Burakovsky and Donskoi are injured though.

  11. "Hope they play Angle's music when he scores"

20,000 people screaming "YOU SUCK! YOU SUCK! YOU SUCK!" every time Tyler Angle scores.
