  1. I was in the hospital the day that trade happened, then I come home and find out my favorite player of all time was traded. Day of devastation.

  2. all I hear is "Saltiness"…..this is R/L not your dream world. They did what they did and they screwed themselves over. Talking about it will never change it! Iggy was great…no doubt about that..but saying this 4 years later? Come on..GET A LIFE!

  3. oh i think the avs got fleeced. Iggy was sliding downhill faster than looch takes his checks to the bank.

  4. Still think the Jagr trade was worse. Not out of contract and none of the players the Pens got back in return ever amounted to solid NHL talent. Iginla trade wasnā€™t great but at least he was out of contract at the end of the season so I can fully understand trying to get a return for him, even if it amounted to crumbs.

  5. I know the tkachuk trade doesn't look good now but just cause it worked out in Florida's favour the first year I wouldn't say Calgary got fleeced, a lot can happen in 8 years (when the Huberdeau deal expires)

  6. As a Bruins fan, I feel immense joy when I think about the fact he retired with no cups.

  7. In 2013 as a 10 year old, I literally cried myself to sleep after the pens lost that playoffs to Boston. Wish they coulda got iggy a cup that yesr

  8. People comparing Tkachuks to Iginla are crazy…
Iggy won everything there is to win except Stanley cup, played in way harder/tougher Era.
Guys like Brashear,Laraque, lucic, domi,Orr,rip belak, rypien, boogard ect. Headshots were basically legal, not as much suspensions, the worst was icing alot of players dump in and just take out defenceman now it's blown down.
Was polite, stayed 1 franchise majority career,Hall of fame, captain, left mark as that franchise best player all time in community as well.
He represented how young western Canada kids wanted to grow up and play like! Along with Clark,Doan,Clarke,BarrettJackman,Morrow
    Guys like Lucic,Ladd,Seabrook,Schenn,Benn,Weber,Keith,Lowry,Reaves,Tootoo,Getzlaf,Armstrong,Stone,Schneider,kolesar,dumba, ect
Those years now with fighting leaving sport, some junior leagues not allowing it.
Whl was known for hard physical players.
Now there's been exceptions and never players such as neidermayer,draisaitl,Nugent-Hopkins,Morrissey,Point,barzal,Reinhart,Reilly,price,Sakic,Eberle,marleau plus Europeans who don't fit the bill/guys like Neidereitter fighting, physically wise still hard to play against players. Becoming more skill as that part of game fades away.
Not sure if he still is but used to own Kamloops blazers.
It makes me happy seeing the physical power forwards still have respect tough to play against like Lowry types in NHL.

  9. And iggy chose to waste his time in colorado when there were better teams at the time lol nobody to blame but himself for not continuing on chasing that cup after pitt and boston

  10. I miss watching jarome play so much. He was an Absolute beast, if the flames organization had half a brain, he would have won a cup in Calgary. One of the greatest goal scorers of all time and you couldnā€™t bring a legit #1 center for him

  11. A superstar is a bit of a overstatement Johnny, but yes he was most definitely still a stud (or star) in the league

  12. The Iginla trade is definitely up there as being one of the worst, but, in my opinion, the Doug Gilmour 10 man trade to Toronto is, by far, the worst trade in team history.

  13. Served the guy in Luciano's in Calgary in 2001, great guy! He's the Trevor Linden of Calgary, really shitty trade.

  14. Avs fan here, Shame Iggy came to us in one of the saddest years of our history. Roy fumbled as a coach.

  15. Most Canadians teams seemed to have had monkeys in the front office during that time frame

  16. My thoughts are Jerome was done with Calgary at that point and freeing up cap space is an important step to take when rebuilding, even if the players they got in return didn't help. After 5 consecutive years of not making the playoffs, they starting making the post season every other year after that trade. It might not have been a popular move with the fans, but it was good business.

  17. In that era, Calgary had Jerome Iginla, Edmonton had Ryan Smyth, each city had their heroes. I miss that era, even though both teams struggled but BOA was always fun to watch.

  18. Dallas still won the trade. They got Joe Nieuwendyk and the Cup.

  19. Hey for a video idea, you should revisit the Erik Karlsson trade. The worst trade the sharks ever made

  20. As an Oiler fan, sad to see Iggy leave Cal for so little. you mentioned the Tkachuk Trade, it was another fleecing of the Flames, I mean come on. You let your best players leave in hopes you can still make the playoffs? That was a step back

  21. They're going to do it again this season. 5 or 6 players on expiring contracts and Sutter in win now mode. Next trade deadline they'll be on the bubble they'll all walk for nothing at the end of the season.

  22. I'm sure all the Flames fans are super happy you're reliving one of their worst moments lol. Why is Flames history littered with such agony?

  23. Can tell your team is out of the playoffs when you're making Iggy videos šŸ˜‚ let's get the playoffs going boys

  24. The iggy trade isn't just the worst in flames history, imo, but one of the worst in NHL history. Absolute robbery.

  25. I still dont see the tkachuk trade as a bad trade. No it didn't work out this season… BUT the players and sutter are clashing and that plays a huge part on the ice. Huberdeau had sooo many great set ups this season that just went nowhere. He was trying to play his game and sutter's game at the same time. I believe the biggest problems this season were coaching and goaltending. Markstrom let so many shots in that should've been easy saves for a 6 million dollar goalie.

  26. Idk… Flames have a few historically bad trades and it may be well before your time but Gilmour in 92 was pretty bad.

  27. Worst Trade ever for Calgary……The blockbuster, which a generation of Leafs fans have full recall of sans Google, saw Gilmour, defencemen Jamie Macoun, Ric Nattress, goaltender Rick Wamsley and young forward Kent Manderville come East for forwards Gary Leeman, Craig Berube, defencemen Michel Petit, Alexander Godynyuk and goalie Jeff Reese….LeaFS TOTALLY WON THAT ONE.

  28. I still think the Nieuwendyk-Iginla trade is one of the best trades in NHL history in terms of both teams getting something substantial. The Stars got a key piece to finally winning a cup…their only cup. And the Flames got the GREATEST player in the history of their franchise!

  29. Did they get fleeced? My Pens, miss used him, put him on the wrong wing. Didn't utilize this gem. Those guys we gave you and that draft pick turned out to be a bust, but the Pens didn't win the cup.
