Pionk crosscheck on Johansson – Have your say!

Neal Pionk was fined $5,000.00 for this crosschecking major penalty on Marcus Johansson. Did the punishment fit the crime? Tough Call will be reviewing the incident. Have your say!

  1. Crosscheck minor, maybe a double. Probably a meeting with Player Safety or a fine.

  2. If the league decided to do a video example of each penalty on their website, this would be the ideal video for a cross check. It’s like he was doing a tutorial.

  3. The fact that he only got a fine is ridiculous. I've rarely seen a hit with such obvious INTENT to injure. He's a coward and NHL Player Safety is a joke!

  4. Filthy disgrace of a cheap shot by a filthy disgrace of a team. Even the jets coach acts like a cross between a rat and a chicken

  5. Dirtier than Hartman's hit…with intent to injure…the Jets should stay in Canada.

  6. The fact that he was fined only 5,000 dollars (maximum or not, that's a complete joke) and AVOIDED a suspension is upsetting; and this is coming from a guy who cheers for the Avs. Neal Pionk literally CHARGED full force towards Marcus Johansson (WHO DIDN'T HAVE THE PUCK FOR A GOOD 1-2 SECONDS BEFORE THE HIT) and smashed him in the ribs against the boards. In the back is one thing, but THIS? This was 100% intent to injure a player, and this was on the same level of scummy as the Darnel Nurse boarding against Kadri in the Semifinals last season. Utterly unacceptable.

    Prayers that Johansson recovers quickly.
