13 Losses in a Row Give Ducks Best Lottery Odds

They crashed to end the season, which means they are now in the best position to get Bedard in June.

  1. I kinda think it would be a ton of fun to see zegras and Bedard on a team together. Use it as a massive chance to “rebrand” and use the mighty ducks logo and maybe the name. Let Hollywood make a movie about it? Bam. Capitalism baby.

That or send San Jose a bone for once. He’d be exactly the person to rebuild their team around too. They more than any team feel like they never left the 90s.

  2. I never thought I'd see the day when so-called "fans" of my team were all over social media swearing at their players, and calling for the coach's and GM's firing–all because their team won too many games, and didn't wind up with the worst record. And, all for a lousy 25% of getting one specific player. SMGDH. There as got to be a better way to do this, without encouraging teams to "tank." Maybe give the worst 5 or 6 teams equal odds. And, maybe not hype these prospects so much that fans think their team will be doomed to "a decade of mediocrity" if they don't get the top guy. That being said, may the balls fall to a team where Bedard wants to go. I'd hate to see that same depressed look on his face that McDavid had after the 2015 lottery.

  3. Can you really blame any Wings fan for thinking its rigged? Every team in our divison essentially has a 1st overall pick or two but us.

  4. Detroit good drafting in first round? Moritz seider is ok but the rest are middling players….Raymond, zadina(instead of quinn hughes), rasmussen, cholowski, svechnikov, last good one was 2014 Larkin…

  5. no they didnt earn it. detroit should have had a #1 for "earning it" but they didnt. then the nhl stops the nonsense after the fact. the lottery system is dumb. and tanking happens in both leagues that employee it, the nba and the nhl.

  6. its apparent on your board. chicago didnt go out there and put the very best team on the ice. they realized they were going to be bad, traded away any assets that had expiring contracts, aging stars , or huge contracts, gathered draft capital and young players, and went just do your best! the same with phillie, montreal, and san jose. the ones that were suprising due to regression or injury whatever we would like to classify it as would be st louis and washington. the 2 we thought might improve but didnt would be detroit and columbus.

  7. The ducks deserve the #1 pick overall I am not a fan of Anaheim ducks. I’m a Boston fan I want see then compite

  8. It's embarrassing for Ducks cornerstones McTavish and Zegras that the team was this awful this year.

  9. The coyotes need more than a star player. They need to draft a gm who can handle a rebuild, and an arena.

  10. And so it is time again.
The last time the Ducks had their best shot at the first overall pick, they lost out to the Penguins, and ultimately ended up losing out on a generational talent in Sid the kid.
I just have a gut feeling that this year, when another potential generational talent in Bedard is present, the Ducks will once again lose out on the first overall pick and end up picking second.
    Sorry Ducks.

  11. If the Stars aligh, then we'll see Bedard's Homecoming… 😉

If only the Acquilini's understand that tanking hard this year would have sold them infinite tickets and jerseys…

  12. McTavish and Bedard looked like the Sedin twins when they played together at the world junior … McTavish-Bedard on their 1st line, Zegras-Terry on their 2nd line plus some offensive defencemen like Drysdale, Zellweger and Mintyukov, that team will be fun to watch

  13. Of the top 5 teams, as far as odds go, I really hope Bedard does not end up in Anaheim most. Why? Well, they have had amazing players and teams that are just run horribly! As soon as they have a solid team, they start dismantling it. Building a team around Perry and Getzlaf worked well, but once they had the proper team behind them, management dismantled it within a 2 year span while winning a Stanley Cup!? I'd like to see him go to Chicago or Montreal the most. Chicago needs that huge star player to rebuild around and would be nice to see an original 6 team, in a city that adores its hockey, get that guy who will bring some excitement back. Same for Montreal, and it would be nice to see them get back to some form of their former glory. The fans would go ape if the Habs picked him up. All that said, it's a deep draft and any team in the top 10 will get a great prospect regardless.

  14. As a Montreal Canadiens fan I was disgusted by the blatant taking done by so many teams this year and the only team that didn't tank, was the one that really was the poorest team, the team with the most man games lost to injury and the team that played it's but off most nights, the Montreal Canadiens. The lottery system clearly does not give teams any incentive to play their best because last place is still the ultimate goal. Worst of all, Montreal might have had a short cut in their rebuild if they had been able to select Bedard, so it boggles the mind that they didn't go all in.

  15. The teams led by Sidney Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin, and Jonathan Toews all missed the playoffs in the same season. Has this ever happened before?

Each has been able to win the Stanley Cup at least once, but it should be obvious now that the NHL is in a time of transition where its best players are concerned.

Any guesses as to which of these future Hall of Famers will retire first?

  16. This year for my Ducks was by far the worst I’ve ever seen! But hopefully Bedard will soothe my pain!

  17. i'm rooting for CBJ to win the lottery. that organization and fanbase deserves a win and i'd also love to see Bedard and Gaudreau playing together.

  18. The way the draft lottery is set up is one of the most overcomplicated things I've ever seen, just have 100 balls, each one equals 1%, do the draft from first to last, each time a team is picked take all their balls out of the bowl, it could be done live in a 30 minute time slot
