long suspension, intent to injure, etc. stupid and incredibly dirty thing to do. things like this wouldn't happen if the refs did more and stopped things in their tracks
Whats the guy supposed to do when he get cross check from behind and there is no call?
Seems like the refs left it to the players to scrap it out. While the head shot is unnecessary I think responsibility for this falls equally on a ref who can't control the game.
If you watch it in half speed, he didn't target the head. He targeted the back and then the stick rides up, possibly because of Dillon's stick between Hoffman's body and Couture's back. Is it a cross check? Yes! Did he target the head? Nope.
Intent to injure? You need to look at the video closer man. You can give an assist to Couture's own defencema, Dillon on that play. Hoffman goes to cross check Couture in the back, Dillon gets his stick in there on an upward angle and Hoffman's stick slides up Dillon's stick resulting in the cross check to the back of Couture's head. I agree with most of the comments here, it was a glancing blow at best, not direct contact. Not worthy of the rolling on the ice Couture did, but hey…late in the game, gotta sell a penalty somehow. All in all the play was way worse than intended (it was the same play Couture just did to Hoffman seconds earlier) like I said, assist goes to Dillon.
it looks like his stick rode up Dillon's stick as he was trying to check him from behind.. at 35 seconds; slow dow to .25 speed. you can see Hoffman's stick ride up…
If you watch it in slowmo, you can see that Hoffman's stick rode up Dillon's into the head of Couture. Yes, it was on purpose, but Hoffman was not trying to hit him in the head, just the back.
Thought the helmets would work better then that, yes it was a cross check but looks like it hit off his back first then head also it was about a foot away from his head wasnt some crazy wind up cross check. Nothing against the guy that went down jus feel the helmet should of done a better job there. I have a $50 CCM helmet and have taken many shots to the head, no issues.

😻😻😻😍😍😍 what a crosscheck
Dirty. Malicious intenet to injure. That plug hoffman better catch a big fine, suspension, and also get bodied in a body bag next time he does play

Seems legit
Dillon lifted Hoffman's stick into Coture's head. Anyone who says otherwise is not paying attention.
Beautiful Dive Execution…
looked like he went for his upper back and it slid up to his neck
He pretty much steve moore'd him
If the target had been a Sedin, this wouldn't have even been a penalty.
It's official. Hoffman was given a two-game suspension by the league for this cross-check.
Couture deserved it and it wasn't that bad. Why didn't Vlasic get anything?
imma find him and kill him. that hurt me so much.
what a sell
what a coward (Hoffman)
Just take a hit and move on. This is hockey, not a kindergarten class.
sportsnet clickbait title, typical
