    That Stanley cup logo was such an iconic thing.

    I’m watching Boston Florida on SN, and they have a digital version that says Stanley Cup Playoffs that keeps glitching. If only there was an easy solution…

    The digital ads suck. The ones at the top of the offensive zone suck the most. They look horrifically fake.

    between this and the multiple gambling ads shoved down your throat, it’s hard to justify paying for the playoffs anymore when i’m watching more commercials than sports

    This is the first time in over 50 years that I’m not turning on the tv to watch the playoffs.

    NHL’s TV product is easily the worst of the big 4.

    The others love their money too but they don’t compromise the broadcast to make it.

    That doesn’t even take into account the 8 on ice adverts. I’m at PNC right now, and there are betway, chipotle, Adidas, and Invisalign logos on the ice.

    This is a travesty for the league, they didn’t lose THAT MUCH MONEY from Covid fuck sakes. NHL acts like they’re about to fuel for Chapter 11 bankruptcy if they don’t slap an ad on literally everything

    Once you take advertising money in places like this, you don’t buy yourself out of it – it becomes normal money

    Everyone hating needs to realize the NFL makes $19B annually while the NHL only makes $6B. Thats why they do this, they need way more revenue sources to grow.

  16. Remember when people actually thought helmet ads would just be a temporary thing to make up for lost revenue during COVID and that the ads wouldn’t keep getting worse from there?

    Stopped watching with the cgi boards. Haven’t watched a game all year… I was tired of bitching about it, decided I’m no longer giving them the view.
    Nhl looks like a nascar jacket threw up all over the ice/jersey/helmet is on the way too…

    Pumping ads into your product makes it feel less than premium. Endless ads sort of signals the end of days for wringing the cloth dry for revenue.

    I was honestly fine with the digital board ads before they started animating/moving them. Between this and the gambling ads, the broadcast is no longer watchable for me.

    Another problem is the ads on the glass behind the net, will cover the broadcasts score/time box when the camera pans far enough

    I know it’s a little thing, but the paintings for the playoffs on the ice was so awesome to me. It made it seem MORE like the playoffs. Don’t know if that makes sense.

    It really sucks they stopped for a few extra bucks.

  25. I liked the playoff logo, especially because it makes it easier to know it’s a playoff game when watching old highlights, but does anyone really care about this? I’m honestly asking, because I can’t imagine watching a game and caring what is or isn’t written under the ice.

  26. Isn’t there a point where too many ads is just not efficient at all? Like throwing 1000 logos in our face every game won’t make me remember any of the logo’s that I’ve seen.

    I watched two NHL games all season. I was pissed off the whole time. Then I saw the digital name tags above the players on the powerplay and was ready to puke. I thought the glowing puck was dumb, but that is ten times worse. I’m done with the NHL. Not that they will miss me, but fuck them.

    I’m glad someone is pissed about this too! This doesn’t give these games any titles, it’s just another game. Put the Stanley Cup Playoff logos back!!!

    This looks terrible and is so distracting as a viewer.

    Keep the ice hockey-related. The Stanley Cup is iconic. These ads should have no place on the ice.

    All the ads suck, we can all agree on that. But they’re painted onto the ice. Changing to the Stanley Cup ad would mean melting the ice and repainting everything. Can every NHL team afford it? Yes, of course they can. But it still takes days to melt, repaint, and build the ice back up.

    There are too many ads. Govs will need to step in and ban animated ads and ban gambling ads. If we don’t get to have booze n cig ads, no gambling ads.
