This is why I kept saying Wild goal tending is underrated. Yes, Oettinger is good, but Gustavson just went blow for blow with him in the longest game in Wild franchise history, making the most saves in Wild postseason franchise history, and came out on top. Also, for all that was made about the Wild's struggles scoring 5 on 5, they outscored Dallas 2-0 in even strength. Also, a Wild defenseman joined the paddle-save emporium and Gustavson one-upped him by making a save with the cap of his goalie stick: #HatPick #SteveDangle
Whether it's 3 on 3 or 5 on 5 – Dallas just don't do overtimes this season
Oh man, that's a heartbreaker there in game 1!
This division has to be the fastest in the league …. Go avs
What a disappointment, but completely expected outcome. Once Dallas goes to OT, it's basically over for them. I don't see them making it past the second round regardless of what happened tonight or in this series…
I'm so glad Dallas isn't facing Calgary again. That series was so hard to watch. It's nice to see players actually do some scoring.
Wild looked amazing through 2 periods. Stars definitely looked and skated better through the rest of the game. Gustavson was great and played really well. Being at the arena tonight it was evident that both teams were tired in OT but the Wild looked gassed. The wild stood strong and were able to finish. Looking forward to Wednesday!
haha go suck it Stars, you'll never win anything.
Absolutely mental defense by the wild. I can't even count the amount of diving stick plays that potentially saved the game for them. Poor Oettinger, he really didn't deserve to have the game end like that. This series is looking like its gonna repeat the flames/stars from last year with this kind of goaltending.
Wild👍💪🏻
Oettinger stood on his head. Glad to see Hartman get the gwg as a hawks fan. If the rest of these games are even of fraction of the energy tonight, it will be a bloodbath.
Announcer was fantastic as well. Don’t know his name, but he needs more games.
Let’s go wild!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow that's really Wild. Happy for Kirill to score immediately in playoffs, but the amount of missed opportunities by Minnesota is over the edge, too much. If they'll continue to roast their chances like that it will be hard to go deep in the playoffs.
Well hang a banner for that game 1 win Minnesota and we will take the series. I remember when Philly won game 1 in the World Series and I remember when Buffalo won game 1 in OT in the 99 Stanley Cup Playoffs and I also remember how both of those series ended and I’m confident Minnesota will do Minnesota things
Both of these teams are out by the end of round 2 regardless.
Yoooooo, that game was wild. No pun intended
Impressive the way that they overcame the Dallas ref bias.
Come on Wild! Awesome win! Keep rolling guys 😉
Minnesota's goaltender is pro
A very disappointing start… Of course, the major loss is Pavelski. I don't even know, if it could be worse… Oettinger or Heiskanen, might be.
Then, a subpar performance. Rather primitive game, so benefiting Wild.
Had anyone have a deja vu feeling? I personally did, from the last year's against Flames. Like Stars feeling themselves doomed… working on Wild's net but unconsciously not believing in a goal.
Robertson was a disappointment, again. He's growing up into hockey's Romo: so sharp and neat during the regular season, so much duller, dumber, and unsure during the playoffs.
Finally, a physiological hit… whoever were to lose such a dramatic game is be downed, big time.
Whether or not Stars overcome and win series — I'm now pretty sure that they will not live to the pre-playoffs hopes, they are still no match to Avs, in playoffs.
For Wild fans, a great effort. But, you guys are no match to Avs too 😉
