Honestly feels like the pain is just beginning.
They should have rebuilt last summer but instead, they doubled down in trying to compete. Now the GM leaves but Sutter & Muller are still employed. Things are apparently toxic all round with more and more players wanting out.
And finally the actual President of the organization flat out says he can’t even say the word rebuild. Like what a cherry on top of the shittiest of sundays. It completely confirms that Murray Edwards is the biggest problem and nothing will change until he sells.

Time to do a true rebuild… something we should’ve started last year after Johnny and Chucky left. It’ll be tough to do with all the cap space Markstrom and Huberdeau are taking up but it can be done

Give it time. We don’t know what’s going to come of this offseason yet, it’s far too soon to think we’re cupping or nosediving into a rebuild
I’m directing this at everybody not specifically you OP: go outside, touch grass, find some hobbies, live a little. It could be a very tumultuous offseason but we don’t know what it could mean yet or the end result. Take notes from ownership and take some time to process this and see how it unfolds before we just fixate on things, it’ll be what it’ll be and we will see how everything starts to unfold in the coming months… I don’t think we’re getting concrete answers on changes or the direction of team until at least middle of may-june

Calgary sports fan existence is pain. We have always had hopes/expectations to make the playoffs – not to win championships. Until that changes – this shouldn’t even make you flinch.

YOU want the pain to end? I’ve followed the Flames since they arrived in town in 1979-80. After the 1980’s, it’s been nothing BUT pain. Except the 2004 Cup run. That one wasn’t a particularly talented team, mind you it had decent players, but it had speed, elite goalkeeping, toughness and grit, and a TON of work ethic. Oh, and coached by D Sutter. Not that I’m necessarily a fan of his right now.
What I’m saying is, other than some flashes of brilliance, the pain is relentless.

Good thing we don’t have much long-term cap space committed so we can truly rebuild for the first time in franchise history!
