  1. A competent GM and they're an easy WC1, fighting for 3rd in the Metro. 101 points. Book it

  2. As a Predators fan I hope that Granlund can find his game again, but words cannot describe how lucky sending him to Pittsburgh was for Nashville.

  3. I love the fact that half the teams in the league now miss the playoffs. I remember in the late '80s a team that was second to last in the whole league (Toronto I believe) made the playoffs. This ratio today is so much better.

  4. I wonder what Sid is gonna do when his contract is up, with the way heā€™s been playing any team in the league would want himā€¦ will he go off to get one more cup or will he retire a penguin?

  5. Is everyone crazy or is it just me? If you really want to get technical here the PENGUINS MISSED THE PLAYOFFS WHEN THEY LOST TO MONTREAL IN THE PLAY IN SERIES!!!!!! I donā€™t care what you say they missed the playoffs that year because when people speak about Toronto they also say they missed the playoffs that year so the penguins werenā€™t on this 16 year streak! Yes they didnā€™t miss for a while but they did miss that year technically ending that streak

  6. I want to say that your videos are terrific to listen to when I'm on the train going to work . Very relaxing . Thank You

  7. gotta buyout either carter or granlund. i'd buyout carter and give granlund another season. gave up too much to call it quits already. carter is done

  8. The core was never the problem. Itā€™s the other bottom six. Their core performed very well. Crosby is being Crosby. Still performing at a very high level.

  9. BS. So tired of people saying it ended this year. They did NOT make the playoffs in 2020. They lost in preliminary round and thus failed to make the final 16 teams. Playoffs are 16 teams. Qualify round ain't the playoffs

  10. As a pens fan the only move I really from hex stall like was keeping rakell heā€™s one those players that can produce at a pretty consistent pace when healthy just like Zucker and Iā€™m hoping they bring him back as well for there veteran move and go younger after that. Iā€™d wait a little a bit on the goalie situation if I were the gm and see what the market or draft has to offer

  11. If they had Marino their situation defintiely looks better. I'd argue the 2nd Rounder for Granlund isn't that bad, if Shitsburg is a playoff team.

Age is definitely a factor with Shitsburg. Their blue line needs some youthful infusion. I'd maybe give Sakic a call and see how long I can keep him on the phone for Byram before he laughs in my face and hangs up.

Gibson has been rumoured to be trade bait for several years now. Especially with Dostal emerging in Anaheim, I'd see if Verbeek wants a 1st and Jarry for Gibson.

  12. The ā€œKapanen specialā€ is to impress in a small sample size with his new team and then lose productivity the next season.

  13. Rakell could pot 40 easily if his shot was more accurate. It is so frustrating to watch him rip absolute laser beams that miss the net by 5 feet

  14. I definitely don't want to see Jarry back tbh.. he occasionally shows flashes of greatness but he has a long way to go in the maturity department

  15. Anecdotally it felt like the pens generally came out 1st period hard and had lots of chances, even if they didnā€™t capitalize but as the game wore on they needed some young legs on 3rd+ lines to keep the energy up. Felt like a lot of blown leads and dwindling energy in games after Christmas.

Also would like to see a goaltender that gives his guys confidence and has some composure.

  16. When the hawks started reeling off championships, I was hoping for a Chicago vs Pittsburgh final to happen. It's the only recent cup winner Chicago didn't go through to win during that period of time. Detroit, LA, Boston, the Hawks beat them all. But then stupid Pittsburgh loses to them at the worst possible time for both teams. We lose draft position and they miss the playoffs. Im gonna go find me a goat and an altar.

  17. Penguins had a glimmer of hope cap-wise after the Blues took Kapanen off their hands but man, the Granlund trade is just indefensible. From any angle, taking on that contract was just a losing proposition. Kudos to Poile.

  18. Such a weird frustrating team to watch this year. At times they looked like contenders and other times it looked like a team tanking for Bedard. Sad thing is we donā€™t get playoffs or a shot at Bedard

  19. You guys are all noobs. This team absolutely dominated the Rangers last playoffs and was poised to go on an extended playoff run until Trouba`s dirty hit on Crosby. They just need more from their goaltending and a little more depth to make it through the regular season. I say they`re fine.

  20. Hextall was incompetent. I could write about 60,000 words here, easy, explaining all the finer details of why things are the way they are, and who probably needs shipped out.

Sullivan is hardly blameless, either. He's not nearly the problem Hextall was. But Sullivan has absolute, unshakable loyalty to way over-the-hill players (like Carter and Dumoulin). And conversely, he acts as if playing anyone under 25 more than six minutes a game will kill him. That can't continue, whoever the next GM is.

  21. Jarry feels a bit radioactive with the fan base right now. I think it would likely be a mistake to bring him back even if they feel he can rebound in some way. I do hear Gibson wants to maybe be traded to a team that can win now though…

  22. I'm tired of earing everybody say they made the playoffs in 2020.

They lost during the Qualifying round. They did NOT qualify for the playoffs. They MISSED the playoffs.

  23. Tbh it would suck for Crosby if they donā€™t make the playoffs but for the organization it would be better to miss because they donā€™t have good future players meaning after Crosby and those old contracts your looking at a team thatā€™s gonna be bad for awhile

  24. Maybe missing the playoffs is a blessing in disguise. The reason why is because, if they wouldā€™ve make it there, the general manager Ron Hextall would unfortunately, stay and coach Sullivan continue to make excuses or clichĆ©s about how the other team was the better team. In all honesty, the streak is going to end at some point. Did you know what I want!? I want the team to get younger to play around the big 3, so they can learn from the veterans, so they can be great as soon as theyā€™re gone and retire. For now on and whenever the future comes, I have no expectations for the Penguins. Just enjoy the ride.

  25. Pittsburgh was a horrible team this year, and I'm a Pens fan. I work nights so I couldn't see a lot of the games, but from what I did see seemed like their number one problem was their transition game. It was downright pathetic. They couldn't hold any offensive pressure and more times than not they were bottled up in their own zone.

  26. I hate to say it but…. Should they sell the farm for a bunch of picks and rebuild? Ala chi, col.

  27. Their screwup was surrounding the big three with other older players. Hextall really screwed this team over. If he had kept McCann, Tanev, Blueger, Marino, Matheson, Rodrigues, etc. the pens would probably still be playing and Hextall would still have his job.

  28. Crosby, 93 pts with a +/- of 8. Malkin, 83 pts with a +/- of -12. Yeah, both produced for a full season, but both look like complete liabilities on the defensive end. Probably why they were able to stay healthy the whole season.
