Whoa, RFAs actually do this to other teams too? It's not just the Leafs who are pushed around by their own restricted free agents? Crazy
Umm Mathews said he was willing to sign an 8 year and the five year. The leafs chose the 5 year contract for a lower aav
1. DeBrincat wants the ownership situation resolved. He wants to be part of a winning team and wants to make sure the new owner is going to put in the resources to do so. There is nothing wrong with that mindset.
2. Senators don't really need him if they feel he isn't a fit. Norris will be back to full health next year and can easily replace what DeBrincat provided. Having both would still be ideal.
3. The Senators will not trade him for nothing. If they can move him for a 1A goalie or another top 4 RD defenseman they'll probably pull the trigger on a trade. If they can't get that, they won't move him.
4. Gus the Bus needed a change in scenery. He got it and as a Sens fan I am glad he has bounced back. He would not be putting up the numbers he had this season with Ottawa's defense in front of him. Ottawa has three other prospect goalies who are alleged to have a higher ceiling than Gus as well.

id rather play leafs then ottawa. leaf fans are the most stupidest idiotic fans of every nhl fan base. NEXT year watch ottawa be a silent horse going into playoffs and winning a series befor toronto does. ottawa is deadly. had one of the best records after that terrible november that they had . either way Leafs suck. go bruins. and ottawa is better . simple as that leafs are a choking hazard
