I love Tarasenko so much please sign him long term

  2. Punkrockcarl72

I was there! Section 212, Rangers fans really brought it tonight, let me say. That being said, still too many penalties were taken, even though they killed them all. Hughes is gonna be a problem if he isn’t contained. Other than that, I’d say it was one of the best games they’ve played all year. 1 down, 15 to go. #NoQuitInNY

  3. EarthWonderful

Igor snubbed but love seeing Playoff Igor again

  4. itspatfromqueens

I need to see goodrow get the broadway hat for that performance . Although it’ll most likely be kreids

  5. barbwire2u

I was anxious all day yet by the third period I was just…happy? Also I just realized it’s my cake day today…on Mika’s birthday.

  6. runninhillbilly

That went about as well as we could’ve hoped for, but they won’t all be that easy.

Still, it feels good to know we won’t be coming back to MSG down 2-0.

The goaltending is the massive advantage we have over them, for sure.

  7. deviantcrisis

Keep hitting everything that moves. Keep Kreider parked in the crease. Keep letting Goody be off-leash Goody. Keep letting Troubs be the wonderful choo-choo that he is. Keep Igor being…well, just let him keep being Igor.

    One down, fifteen to go.

  8. Poor Devils fans don’t realize how much of a gap there is between Igor and their shitty goalies. They think they are the better team yet goalies can win you championships.

  9. Jokercard08

Some things to iron out, but that was just about as good of a Game 1 as anyone could hope for. Holy fuck.

Refs gonna be an issue moving forward, obvious from the jump who they want out.

Bottom six is going to be a major factor, if the kidline can stay a step ahead, they don’t have an answer. Goodrow-Motte-Vesey looked far more effective than their 4th as well. Huge.

And of course, every win starts with Shesty. He was a god tonight.

Some of those misses the devils had will be goals moving forward, and we cannot have 10-minute stretches with 0 shots.

Mikkola really stepped up as well, amazing what having him in his proper role does for the team.

But to go into their barn, and play that game, took a lot of poise from the boys.

On to Game 2. Lets fucking go.

  10. words_are_w1nd

Scooped the best seats I’ve ever had for a game, 3 rows from the glass in the corner.

Right in the perfect position to look right into Lindys eyes as he decided to turn into a legit sniper.

    15/10 would invade NJ again.

  11. Henrazysed910

hope they keep the pressure up in game two and bring it back to the garden with good momentum

  12. albynomonk

Like I said, dump and chase wins games. Where’s that guy who was using calculus to prove cross-ice passes are superior? LOL

  13. BestDadBod

Welp that went much better than last year’s first one. Glad I can catch some shuteye tonight

  14. didndndiiii

What a game. Haven’t seen us play this smart and detailed in a long time. Dedication to blocking shots, good sticks, east west when possible but getting pucks deep. The biggest X factor to me is whether Panarin plays like last playoff or gets smarter and he was solid today.

My only cons… Kane looks hurt and bad. And Miller continues his run of bone headed risky unnecessary plays. Had a bad unnecessary pinch that led to an odd man rush and the pass to tarasenko that led to the penalty shot.

  15. Envelopen

Not gonna even get remotely cocky yet long series still to play but damn that defense was s+ tier. Also going back to kreider tip in on pp is everything ive been waiting for

  16. RainandPixels

What’s the link for an msg stream?

  17. Sjdillon10

“We outplayed them the 2nd and 3rd”

That’s what happens when a team coasts. We didn’t play any offense after the first 15 mins

  18. TheGuava1

Having a noticeably better time than the Leafs fans in my life currently.

All shit talk aside I really hope they can carry this over. Kid line looked good all game

  19. kiddocontay

someone please convince me to not stay up all night watching these western conference games again. I was up till after 2am last night watching the Wild/Stars & Oilers/Kings. Epic hockey

  20. joethewater

Remember, whatever you did today, you have to do again on Thursday. NO DEVIATIONS!

  21. the_mair

Lindy doesn’t think they played that poorly lmfao

  22. Puzzleheaded_Path_69

I’m going to game 2 Thursday night and I would like to see a win for my first play off game ever ❤️💙

  23. Pork-Roll

Good game. Get Igor some help and transition better. Less penalties… but that’s stuff that CAN be done.

  24. ItsHeadbangerG

That right there is the statement win we needed to open this bastard up! I love what I saw out there, fast paced up in their shit physical play! What a sight to behold. Refs were suspect as shit, but nothing at all unusual about that. Just casually ignore Key’s face being smashed to hell and swallow that whistle whole, while oh so conveniently calling the softest shit against them. Igor, is unflinching, and unbending. Absolute fucking steel.

Now to keep this intensity going into game 2. The Devils will be looking to strike back.

    See everyone Thursday.

  25. Vaeltaja82

I’d like to see a bit more offensive pressure on our side. Just for the sake of my blood pressure. But I guess that this is also one way to beat the shit out of Devils.

  26. 46.5% 5v5 SVA xGF% – X
    Igor .964% – ✓
    PP 2/3 – ✓

get 2 of 3 of these every game and they’ve got a good chance of winning. all of the stars showed up in this one. Igor stood on his head. zone entry defense was really good until the game got out of reach. still have to do better at moving the puck out of the zone, especially that third pair, and Miller/Trouba did not play well but Lindgren/Fox made up all the difference. gotta work on that too

overall relatively impressive game. game started with sarcastic Igor chants and [ended with real Igor chants](https://twitter.com/TylerRichard93/status/1648502446057205761)

  27. DivClassLg

Remember when playing 750 hockey in 15 game stretches wasn’t good enough and the team was so unbalanced? I member

Take your own advice and don’t get too penisy.

Its only one game. Now you stack em

  28. Yes-Mum

I’m not from US but looked up the two stadiums are 25 mins drive from each other. Is an away win in this series as big as others?

  29. Freaky_Deaky_Dutch

Our game’s highlights just played on ESPN during intermission for Seattle vs Colorado, and they said, “special teams were a factor!…so were the officials, some would say”

    Say what??

  30. Key-Tip-7521

Day 1: The nerves were high leading up to the game. But as I stated, survive the first 5-10 minutes, less than five minutes into the game, one of the big acquisitions, Vova what a wrister. That’s why you bring him in. Later, the top goal scorer in Ranger Playoff history, Christopher James Kreider scored not one but two power-play goals. Chris Kreider, “IT’S A POWER PLAY GOAL!” 2nd Period, after the Devils had control of the puck most of the period. Rangers get a power play. Didn’t score. BUT, Fox w/ the beautiful pass to Lindgren. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BABY, TOP SHELF. Chytil got the empty netter to seal it.

Besides the goals, I thought they played excellent. The penalty kill was excellent as well as the power play. Special Teams matter come playoff time. Defensively, they shut the Devils down. Blocking shots, giving up the body, and the players buying in. Loved it. Still, try to limit the turnovers especially against this team. What I REALLY LOVED, was pushing the Devils towards the boards. Make them play North/South which they did. The Rangers got under the Devils skin and frustrated them, like Severson. Damn coward didn’t want to fight Goodrow. They can improve, but I’m very, very, happy.

Fox got 4 apples, Bread had two, heck, even Kane got one. Igor was Igor. 5-1 scoreline may have been seen like a blow out, but it didn’t feel like it.

Overall, the Rangers draw first blood, in Game 1 of the best of seven series. Rangers win! duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Rangers win! the powers of Mika Cat and Playoff Pig strike! As what soccer/football managers do after scoring a goal on the road, “pointing towards his head as to tell the players keep their heads” it’s best for us(the fans) to keep our heads. Game 1’s win was great. BUT, expect a response from the Devils. It’s a must win game for them. With that, onto Game 2. Continue to play well.

High 5! on the Filip Side!

    WHY NOT US?!

Playoff Edition: God Save the King. Back afta dis.

  31. cha-cha_dancer

Wasn’t that nervous about today. Felt good that if we got one of two in Newark we could sweep the next two at MSG. Checkpoint reached! LGR!

  32. Great game. Don’t have any bad things to say at all. Maybe some more physicality if anything – I wanna see Hughes get laid the fuck out.

Ngl I wouldn’t even be mad if Gallant benched Kane next game to help jog his realization that it is currently playoffs. He was a straight up liability tonight.

  33. BernieManhanders23

Igor stood on his head, everybody played a hard game, the kid line stood out and we have the best 4th line in the league LGR

  34. jamdivi

Went to the game tonight and some toolbag 2 rows behind me was talking SO much shit to me about me being a Rangers fan from NJ before the game started. Then we scored. Then we scored AGAIN. He didn’t have much to say after that other than some dtunken babblings about Igor in the 3rd period. I am on cloud 9 right now.

  35. no-27lgy

Good start. I’d say cut down on the penalties, but that was 8 mins with no shots on goal.
