Recapping what the Calgary Flames did at the draft with picks in the later rounds. Also looked at the picks the Calgary Flames traded away and what happened to those picks. After the Dougie Hamilton trade, I think these we’re picks on the best player available as suppose to certain positions. With these happening in the later rounds I’m not expecting anything to materialize in 3 years at least.

thanks for picking mathias emilio pettersen at 167
Mathias Emilio Pettersen is a valuable pick! He has been on hockey forums since 2006! Had a bit of hype on YouTube and other social media. Check out his videos if you haven't seen them. A few years back he was predicted to be drafted higher.
His last two seasons haven't been bad, but I'm sure the scouts have expected more of him. He had his moments in South Kent, but didn't manage to continue his progression in the USHL. The advantage is; if his talent starts blooming again he can become better than some of the earlier draft picks. His natural talent is marvelous and he is committed to train. Either way he will be valuable player for Norway's future. Please take good care of him Calgary.
Just wanna point out that Mathias Emilio Pettersen has been blessed with a terrific start in Denver. 8 points (2 goals and 6 assists) and +7 in his first 4 games. 3 of the points came in his debut game. His stats in the USHL league was completely different, the opposite to be exact. I'm hoping this continues, because his hard work and commitment deserves good results. First rounders from previous draft such as Oliver Walhstrøm and Joel Farabee have not managed to adapt as well as Emilio in NCAA so far.
I know it's early, but what an interesting start to the season. Way above my expectations that's for sure. I was hoping for this, and I'm hoping it will continue. If it does than Calgary can be proud of their drafting skills. Nothing is cooler that a late 6-7 round draft pick, ending up as a better player than a first or second rounder. Fingers crossed.
