Not sure how the Islanders are supposed to beat the Canes. Folks are hyper focusing on the Canes lack of scoring (#15 in NHL)while not thinking about the fact the Islanders struggles to score (#22 in NHL). Svechnikov wasn't really lighting it up most nights, and Pacioretty barely played. This series will only be close in the score, but not really close in the results. I think everyone is trying to make up a story line without factoring in "facts".
Canes for last two months would make about 10 big mistakes a game with 3 of those ending up as goals against. Carolina this game were back to early season focus with only about 5 mistakes and only that single goal against.

Atrocious calls on the isles man, Carolina had 1 soft call on them but the isles got the worst of em.
That pullock “slash” was a BS call. This is going to be a tight series where unfortunately one mistake or one bad call will decide the games.

The second penalty goal is in my opinion bs. That wasn’t a slash, he just defended the stick and that was the difference maker so it stings a lil.

Never would I have guessed Raanta would be the Canes best option at goalie for the playoffs, but that certainly appears to be the case right now. He has been outstanding all season.
Islanders fan here, but still enjoyed the game. Hope the whole series is like that and it goes 6 or 7 games.
The penalty that led to the second Carolina goal was definitely a bad call. There was no slash at all on that play.
Brent Burns is the key to Canes going deep this year. Rannta should get the nod for GM 2. Canes defense is a beast.
