Is that the new plane, or have they not gotten it yet?

The Red Wings/Tigers MD-80 might be one of if not the last active MD-80 in the United States.

Upgrading to a 737 (for the unfamiliar any Southwest plane you see is a Boeing 737) will offer a lot more space and storage. It will also be easier to maintain due to the plethora of service parts.

It will also likely be a little more fuel efficient and easier to find certified flight crews, since the 737 is still actively used by so many airlines.
