I think his time should be done in the AHL. Time to move him up. We likely can’t keep Vladar as his salary bumps to 2.3 mil next season so we will likely have to trade him. Wolf deserves a shot I think.

– Wolf was WHL goalie of the year twice (2020, 2021). He was not named WHL goalie of the year in 2019 despite a .936 save% and 1.69GAA
– He was also USA Hockey and CHL goalie of the year in 2020, and AHL goalie of the year in his rookie season last year
– Last year Wolf [tied an AHL record for most shutouts in a playoff series](https://theahl.com/wolf-ties-ahl-record-as-heat-close-out-eagles), with 3 shutouts in 4 games
– Wolf was named MVP along with Dostal of the All-Star game this year
– He’s widely expected to be named the AHL player of the year as well

He’s too small to battle in the corners though.
Only labarbera has won it twice? And not back to back.
Keeping him in the AHL beyond this point risks stagnation. The key to development is to keep challenging players and it more than looks like Wolf is too good for the AHL. He’s needs to be in the NHL next year.

4th straight year he has been named best goaltender in the league he’s playing in.
Kid is nuts.
Maelstrom is still an elite goalie. Who better than him to mentor Wolf? We can get a very good prospect or at least 2nd round pick for Vladar. This is a no lose situation.
Too bad he wasn’t playing this year so you could gracefully slide into the bottom spot of the playoffs!
