Pat – There have been several frightening incidents of players getting their throats cut. Do a search for "NHL players throat cut" . 300 stitches for one, carotid artery nearly severed….scary stuff!
Old time goalies didn't have a backup…they'd take a shot in the mouth, get the broken teeth pulled and stitched and go back in to finish the game. Johnny Bower, who played many years for the Leafs, had one tooth left that hadn't been knocked out by pucks. Hardcore dudes!

I admire dude's toughness…but no way should he have played. That was unfair to everyone around him and himself. He could have reopened it at any moment and I guarantee people were taking it easy on hitting him because of that.
Actually goalie skates and not as sharp as players and they have a wider flatter blade for balance and side to side movements,thatās what made it not as worse as it could have been.
Reminds me of the Clint Malarchuk incident but that skate hit his jugular
And this is why hockey players are DAWGS…. Other sports the guy misses three games with a bruised pinky nail

That cut doesnāt seem to deserve 70 stitches.. coming from a guy who has a permanently damaged pupil, broken orbital bones and 20 stitches. Much respect to him either way
