Pinder is right, sell Toffoli, what are the chances that he'll ever have another season like that, sell high!
And just think, the owner potentially burned down his own chair lift in Kimberley for the insurance money…. skipped the country for taxes and no one, in any company, likes working for him including his last wife!
Absolutely agree. We’ve got a multitude of guys on long term deals. Keep them, get a coach that embraces those guys and what they do well, take the guys that don’t have NTC’s and move them. Free up your cap space, build around your top guys and embrace young talent. We should be trying to free up as much cap space as possible without “rebuilding”. Guys like Toffoli, Lindholm, Dube, Tanev and even a Mangiapane are expandable. You got young guys like Duehr, Coronato, Pelletier, Wolf and others that will produce for you for cheap.
Locking the vast majority of your team to long term deals that haven’t won is a BAD MOVE. It hasn’t worked. Get off some of those deals
Why is this a topic of discussion. The Flames can let the free agents walk, free up cap space and bring up a fantastic farm club as needed. Getting rid of Taffoli, arguably the best player this year is a terrible idea and a waste of a conversation. Bringing up 3 to 5 players from the Wranglers is exactly what they should do…after they get rid of the head coach
The first thing that you have to do is create an environment in which people want to stay. Because right now everybody wants out.
