One of the few players i wouldn't have shed a tear for if he had a career ending injury from being deliberately hit in the head. Afrikaners have a very bad reputation in NZ rugby because there are so many psycho players who play like Bakkies and make one worry about getting injured from a cheap shot just by putting in a hard fair hit

Notice how he backs off when the opponent is as big as him. He's just a scumbag who likes to intimidate smaller players. He's a coward really.

This is a man who went out to deliberately potentially injure others and his violence and aggression shouldn't be whitewashed under the title of sh*thousing. Luckily, individuals like him have no place in the modern game.

He played in an era when almost every club and national sides had a similar type of player, a Brad Thorne, a Martin Johnson, Nathan Sharpe, Paul OโConnell, Martin Shaw, Jamie Cudmore who would bash oppositions up.
A thug. Went out to hurt people. Blowing kisses too? Maybe he's frustrated.
Hitting someone on the back of the head can cause serious damage and it's prohibited even in boxing. Headbutting and charging people unnecessarly hard.. This is just reckless. This guy is a real asshole and unsportsman. I understand some toughness in the game but intentional moves to cause harm on other players is disgusting. I've been playing football since I was a child and there is some agression in some games but those who do that kind of intentional moves to cause injury on others are really problematic people. The psychos made their way into professional arena by bullying people. I'm glad that that kind of behavior is not tolerated anymore in any sport.

I think the Georgian Gorgodza would have given Bakkies a proper go if that incident wasnโt stopped. He stood back for no man and was tough as hell and I think Bakkies was weary of him.

Botha gets a lot of unwarranted criticism I think. Sure, he engaged in foul play occasionally but I don't believe he was a 'dirty' player. He was just a very physical and intimidating bloke. I'm sure he was usually good for a beer afterwards.
