Edmonton Oilers News Update – The Latest On Dylan Holloway, Alex Stalock & Cooper Marody
The Oilers Fanatic takes a look at the latest from Kurt Leavins at The Cult Of Hockey as he provides updates on Dylan Holloway, Alex Stalock, Cooper Marody & More #LetsGoOilers
I don't agree with Kurt about Holloway. But that's just my take. I can see him playing a wing not center. He Is a top six forward and going to be a thorn for other teams.
All players who make it to the show will have a sizable escrow that will be used to pay down the debt owed to owners under the CBA (it's over a billion in debt). It will take years. What you are "supposed" to be paid and what you actually are paid will be two very different things. By way of example Connor won't get 12.5 million. He'll probably get between 7 and 8 as a guess. Those that earn less, while they pay less, they still pay. Remember: They have to have a place to live, food to eat, things the team doesn't provide. During the off season training (say with Gary Roberts) isn't cheap and the team doesn't pay for that. Guys with families need to make sure those families are taken care of. If they own homes those have to be taken care of, possibly with a mortgage. Players have to look out for themselves. They have a finite window where they can compete at the elite level. They have to maximize their earnings during this period. Those on two way contracts or that are in the minors don't get the big bucks. They're paid a pittance compared to their NHL counterparts. Someone like Marody needs to make sure he's getting the best deal for him. Great vid as always.
The problem with advertising on the jersey is for the fans that buy jerseys. You buy a McDavid/McDonalds jersey and next month he has Burger King instead. 😉 But seriously, fans jerseys will always be a little different now.
Marody late last season deleted EDM and Bakersfield from his social media accounts, that led to everyone saying he won't be back, and that may still be correct. He might see his best shot as an NHL forward as being on a less stacked team as ours. Kinda sad, all things considered, when you literally lead the AHL in goals in your mid twenties
Sad that Bear left, but happy with what we got back. Bouchard is able to take his RD place and we got a determined Foegele who has lots of potential, just like Bear.
One of my big gripes with Tippett is that he is so unaware or just lacking in any sort of creativity because if he had played Stalock even once or twice he could have a bit of insight in a game situation how he would perform in front of the group. It would have given Ken Holland a bit more insight on how dire the goaltending situation is if he brings back Smith and Koskinen as he would know if he’s got an insurance policy in Stalock or have more of a definitive thought about upgrading the position.
It’s frustrating because they had clinched and these sorts of decisions seem so elementary to just try and see what you have. It wouldn’t have been controversial at all but look now, Stalock is playing well over the summer and the insight that could’ve been achieved prior is now another point of contention because Tippett is too stubborn or unaware.
I really hope Holland doesn’t resign him and his staff without seeing as how this season plays out and if they make the postseason, observing how that goes down. They can’t reward falling short of expectations for a third straight postseason.
Interesting with Holloway at center. I would like to see Stalock in a couple pre season tilts. Put whatever you want on the Jerseys, so many other sports have been doing it for decades.

Desert dogs ain’t pacific no more g
We ever gonna go after a guy like Khudobin? I'm all for giving Stalock a shot, but I just want nothing to do with Koskinen any more.
Love the intro!

Why would Oil fanz get on Warrens case for tha trade….Classless fanz ran Bear outta town.
HOLLAND SUUUUUKS
I wouldn’t mind Holloway at center. Big and fast would really help bottom 6
No one gonna talk about how McLeod is genuinely just not ready nor skilled enough for NHL play but literally had to get babysat by TWO power forwards

Adds on jersey makes me want to throw up, I think NHL jerseys are clean and by far the best jerseys in sports

Really like Bear the person but his game has regressed
