Oilers address controversial game 3 calls

Oilers players Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid, as well as coach Jay Woodcroft, speak with the media following Trevor Moore’s controversial overtime-winner in game 3

  1. If you pin McDavid to the ice in the middle of a skate blade scrum on the boards it's just a smart play. If a fourth liner pins Iafallo to the ice, it's going too far and is interference.

Honestly fuck these refs, and fuck the sniper who shot Arvidsson from the nosebleeds.

  2. The fact all these experts cant see it says something. They wont talk about the spin of the puck drastically changing. They wont talk about the Apex of the pucks movement, it changes drastically dropping after it was hit. And last but not least is the stick that touched the puck, its momentum slows right as contact is made. All 3 prove it, but you would have to have played hockey to know that the puck spinning while in the air doesn't change much, it still spins at close to the same speed until it hits something, like a stick. And that the pucks trajectory would continue until it lands with both sides from the apex being close to each other unless its redirected from its original path. Its 100% but its over now. I dont blame the refs for this one, this is 100% on the situation room. Oh well, on to game 4.

  3. Oilers are sore losers.
Just because McJesus plays on your team doesn't give you god status.

Drai slash was not just a tap and it WAS unsportsmanlike conduct.

The 'high stick' is inconclusive. So the goal counts.

Thats how the rules are, suck it.

  4. Sure seems like the Oil get few calls their wayā€¦hell of a way to treat your best players. I believe Bettman doesnā€™t like Canadian teams in the finals. Poor strategy to expand the league and its fan base.

  5. It's clear after 3 games, they are controlling play 5 on 5, yet the kings have more power plays in the series, hmm?

  6. Officiating has been awful ā€¦. In the Bruins game a puck went in after whistle they called it a goal they let things go then make calls that make any sense ā€¦ to bad but some officials want to be apart of it

  7. Iā€™m not an Oilers fan, but I gotta day they got hosed last night. League should be embarrassed by the officiating. Also, the Kings should be embarrassed by all their diving and flopping. Itā€™s the NHL not the NBA.

  8. Boo boo, are you official now as well or a player? Man oilers and their fans are babies!!!!! Everyone elseā€™s fault but their own. Itā€™s pathetic

  9. Just whining….because there was no conclusive proof. It's that simple. McDavid is simply pissed at his own team. That's obvious these days.

  10. Thereā€™s been some questionable calls and not just for the oilers, but for basically every team it seems like. I get refs canā€™t get it right everytime but some things seem suspicious

  11. Soft … wow grab on to an excuse hard. How about should never let it get to OT with conviction .. thought Connor was gonna cry

  12. The NFL and NHL both admit that they rig games "for competitive balance / entertainment purposes". Why are people still surprised when a rigged game is rigged?

  13. Its not the just the Oilers, across the teams calls are inconsistent anyone no matter the team can see that

  14. My thing is it was definitely a high stick no debate but the Oilers need to stop giving up dumb penalties. Sole reason they lost both games. With all that being said the Refs need to do better not only for this series but for all of them.

  15. The NHL is a stickler for the details and getting the calls right, that's why Makar's goal last year according to the rule books is onside. Even though his lack of possession is literally between stickhandles that allows his teammate to tag back on. Then this year there is a missed stoppage in OT, and the Oil get burned on a non call. There is no angle that show space between the puck and the high stick, because the puck touched his stick. The NHL gets the details right last year and it's a call against the Oilers. The NHL get the details wrong this year and it's a call against the Oilers. That's the frustrating part.

  16. The refs suck! Big time. These refs have been really bad all season and not just in hockey. šŸ¤£

  17. Oilers fans complaining about the Reffing is like calling a Kettle black. For years in Edmonton specifically they always get third period powerplays in there home rink. To see them finally come out on the worse end of a powerplay is just KARMA. Mcdavid in particular 71 power play points just under half his point this year.

  18. To me it looks pretty obvious it touches his stick. Beyond that, the league is honestly garbage for officiating. The worst in professional sports. You think Oilers fans are the only ones who chant "Refs You Suck"? and the league still has its blinders on thinking that 3 guys dodging pucks and bodies on a surface of ice will have enough vision to adequately officiate this game. The game has changed so much in its 100 years, but the officiating has not changed much. A series can still be won or lost on the back of a bad or missed call. This is undeniable. And its way overdue for them to decide once and for all: Do they want actual fairness in the game? Do the rules actually matter all the time, or not?

  19. Hated that call on draisaitl for his little love tap .. ffs it's hockey we're playing here! At least leah hextall wasn't involved in commentary …

  20. Oilers suffer some bad calls, but that is not why they are losing. Yes they got somehat shafted in game 3, but taking needless stupid penaltys over and over is killing them, along with the fact that LA just capitalizes on Oiler miscues to often for the Oil to recover from. LA's Goaly has been better. LA's D has been better. LA's offence is obviously more then keeping up. Grow up real fast Oilers or it's Golfing time.

  21. The refs are on the take, betting is rampant and they are orchestrating the outcome of the games.

  22. This is the reason I stopped placing bet in hockey! They need to fire all these refs or make them take after game interviews

  23. Frustrating that Danault gets no penalty for pinning McDavid to the ice for 8-9 seconds, when late in the 3rd Kostin gets a penalty for pinning a Kings player to the ice for 4 seconds. The standard is set and then forgotten.

  24. Someone suggested the referees should be held accountable in the sense that they should be interviewed after games as well at least to give their opinions on plays and I 100% agree. The NHL is extremely corrupt just as badly or if not worse than FIFA. Everyone should look into their past scandals and controversies, and you will be absolutely shocked. Did you guys know that Rick Tocchet was charged with running an illegal gambling ring where Wayne Gretzkyā€™s wife was placing bets on his behalf? šŸ˜³ and look at them now. Still doing just fine. Everything was swept under the rug. How corrupt

  25. No Canadian team will win the Stanley Cup again.. (unless someone takes charge who doesn't care about profits) Doesn't make the NHL enough money on merchandise sales. Around 300 million more people living in the United States.

  26. Cry me a river princess McDaisy … thr queen of the NHL gets whatever he wants. Most overrated player in league history

  27. As Mario Lemieux once said, the NHL is a garage league and a joke.

  28. The league needs to be investigated. It would not be surprising if the referees were being bribed. Apparently one of the refs who was working during the first oilers playoff game was investigated years prior. šŸ¤”

  29. Go tell Nurse to stand in front of a blackboard and write "I will play smart defense" a 1000x times!!!! Guy made bonehead plays!

  30. Wow, this is so different being on this side of things for once. So used to watching all the chippy plays of stick work after the whistle, continually poking the goalie even though he has it, ramming the goalie. Like the usual Kane noticed Doughty just throwing his arm out and decides enraged to roll him into the boards all the while pointing out why he did and telling the ref to shut the F up cause doesn't know what he's talking about. And it actually got called and all their little ticky tack things they do are up to. I kind of feel bad but usually they don't.
That being said, Kings stop being frickin ballerinas out there. Both embarrassing as a team and for the sport. Better get your crap together cause all this may change and full strength play you shouldn't even be in the playoffs. Stop waiting for Fiala to get back to squeak you by. Smh unbelievable.

  31. Wow itā€™s amazing all these former players that the league tries to make into referees instead of, you know, getting referees who have worked games their entire lives, are absolutely horrible
