I dont usually watch highlights of the leafs playoff games, but actually i came across this one! I agree with you! These referee''s get more hyper during the playoffs than the players! My advice to these referee's is very simple! Be neutral, stay level headed and dont follow the hype or get caught in it! Referee's are like judges in court! You are supposed to be impartial! Because if you are not, then you should be disbarred or impeached! In this case, sports, you shoud be suspended just because you suspended that player without just and provable cause! There i said my piece! Carry on! Excellent job Johnny V.!
Good trade off, not celebrating the injury but that Dman is more important to them than Mike is for us, and now we get a look at Knies (not predicting hes gonna be any good, personally would prefer an extra D of even Simmons because he brings snarl we need now)

I think part of the reason it ended up being 3 is because it was both a hit to the head and interference. I was surprised it was more than 2.
Honestly good riddance. Leafs already have a lot of depth and can replace him with Jarnkrok on that LW. At least now that’s one less player we have to worry abt taking a stupid penalty.

A) DOPS time 3 games in this case
B) the length of time the injured player is out 1 Calendar year max

I don’t care how many games it is. The guy is a threat to this team and cannot be trusted to be played high up in the roster ever again. Third liner? Yeah, sure. Hell, he’d probably be great in the bottom six. But you can’t afford a player like this in such a crucial series for the Leafs.

I totally disagree with three games one game yes two games because it’s the playoffs. OK but it should not matter who it is. It doesn’t say in the rules that if it’s Michael Bunting he .gets three and if it’s John T , he gets one. That is complete and utter BS one game suspension for an illegal check to the head and us fine would be lots. This is the playoffs. Those teams need their guys on the benches to compete. With that being said, I think it’s only fair that if you injure a player you’re out as many games as they are, if they are out one game, they should get one game. Regardless, whether the guy is a dummy or not, this is playoff hockey stuff like that should be like goal. He barely hit his head and it wasn’t a very fast play. It was on defensive and offensive so to me that was kind of a incidental because of the plate does not Garner a 3 game suspension in my eyes. The referees are just out to kill the leafs chances of winning as per orders by Gary Bettman.

Here's the problem with the referee leniency in the playoffs: it incentives dirty play. Here we have a game with bad officiating on both sides. Refs call a BS penalty against Cernak which got Toronto back into the game. The second goal gets Toronto believing they are back in it, only for point to go and score right away. This is following the McCabe hit ok Eyssimont which the refs chose to ignore. That hit was very similar to the bunting hit on cernak. Now, with Toronto's hopes withering, shit heads like bunting decide they'll quit skating and start throwing hits. Can't beat 'em? Injure their players so we can beat them in game 2! This is where refs need to be stricter. I'm sick of seeing players getting injured in the playoffs because refs don't want to call a major. It's ridiculous. Now Tampa is going into game 2 short two players who took illegal high checks from the flailing leafs. That's two players 1 game, and Tampa doesn't know when either will return. If they're out 2 games, we have 4 games worth of injuries. So, how extreme does 3 games sound now? The players getting suspended should be suspended longer than their victims are out for if you ask me.
3 games is way too much, especially how you look at Mike Hoffman being corsschecked in the face and is only given 1 game to Green, same with Austin Matthews crosscheck only got 1 game? BUNTING is nlt a discipline player and this could cost the series..
It is a lot but at the same time it’s not good. Not at all looking at it. I think why this was three games was because the puck was nowhere near Bunting or Cernak. That’s why I say it was definite intent without much argument, it wasn’t even trying to make a check so he can get better positioning he has momentum on Cernak and would’ve outpaced him and been ahead anyway. That was an absolute intentional hit, made out of frustration and cowardliness. It wasn’t needed, it didn’t send a message other then Buntings a clown, and it wasn’t connected to the puck situation whatsoever.
If the puck was closer to Bunting and Cernak, maybe it’s only a one game or a fine. The fact it was isolated it deserved what it got. 3 maybe is much but it’s better to send a message against this then undersell it.

Three games is a little too harsh. I think it should be 2. The rules however, are not consistent – and that's a problem. Like @Hot Take Hockey said, what if ROR, Johnny Toronto or Auston 'Powers' Matthews did this? League officiating is a joke and a half.

Honestly though, happy that Bunting is off for a bit because if he only got a 1 game suspension, he could literally come back and the chances of him doing something stupid like that again are high (especially since Tampa knows how to annoy him).
Hoping Keefe puts Jarnkrok back up with Matthews and Marner on the first line because they actually play well together
